Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

How can you guys keep playing this game ?
Yo Commanders,

I got 600 h on this game and I can't motivate myself to continue playing. Last time I was trying to engineer guns on my new Black Mamba, but I just loose my sh*t and my self-control when I discovered that level max needed a hell of a grind for this god d*mn micro softwares. Even If I found a youtuber that was correctly explaining how to better farm these enginneer materials, I was just so fed up about it.

All of this just to win a CZ !!!!! Jesus :steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm:

I wonder how the veteran find their motivation keep playing this game ?

My Hotas T-Flight X is probably under a chunk of dust now...

I like flight sim type games. Always have.

I played the original Elite as a kid, along with games like Descent... Even back then Elite was one of my favourite games. While other kids were playing Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Paper Boy and Pacman, I was flying a space ship.

This is a vast improvement over that, while still being the only game that really pulls off the same feel. Some other games come close... X series for example. It just never seemed to scratch the itch.

Even I burn out occasionally and go play something else for a few days/weeks/months. But I always come back...

I'm not playing Barotrauma, RimWorld or Factorio at the moment. Or Tunnet. Or Juno.

idk, i like Elite. Always have. The most modern iteration is not perfect but its damn good.

What exactly is your question? Why play a game? Because its fun.
If it isn't, you play something else or do something else.

Sounds like you are burned out on this game.

I play this and other games off and on. I find rotating through keeps things fresh. The only thing that sucks about coming back to this game is relearning the controls but that only takes a week or so.

give youtubers a damn and play at your speed.
you dont need a full engineered ship to complete this or that.
after you reach lvl 3 then you have a good advantage over AI ships.

there are traders who swap engineered goods 1 : 6 for the next level.

Not a combat guy, sometimes you just have to chillax a bit and this hits the spot nicely...

Noooooo... Don't trade up. You're ripping yourself off.

Get high value mats (spend 3 minutes in a High Grade Emission source with a couple of collector limpets) and trade down.

Instead of getting 1 for 6, you get 6 for 1. Or 32 for 1... I think a single g5 mat, will get you 128 g1? Might be off... It's been a while since I felt the need to visit a mat trader.

600 hours is pretty good for any game. Got a lot of games in my library that i've played a whole lot less but still thoroughly enjoyed. I've got 400 in Baldur's Gate 3 and will probably exceed 600 over the lifetime (will do another playthrough when patch 8 comes out), but that will probably be it.

I'm going through a resurgence of playing Chaos: Reborn at the moment, with 126 hours, doubt i'll ever reach 600 hours in it.

Crusader Kings 3 - 400+ hours, doubt i will ever play again.

ETS - 200 hours... will probably play again at some point, but doubt i will hit 600.

ED... *cough* thousands of hours.

How?

Don't know, just one of those few games i keep coming back to no matter how often i take breaks. It helps that i can periodically switch between what i'm doing. Work the BGS for a while for my squadron, go mining and chill while watching TV shows, head off out exploring, and more recently, hauling goods to help a friend build a station.

Sometimes a game comes along that you just keep playing again and again.

The only other game that i suspect i've put as many hours in is Medieval Total War 2 - and that's largely thanks to the Divide and Conquer mod.

Did you already get the best ships? A fleet carrier? If not its fun to achieve the goal of getting those... Also, once you have a carrier and a good explorer ship, exobiology is a blast! Especially if you're new to it like me. I'm presently making my way towards Colonia while making at least a couple billion doing exo... Its really cool having a fleet carrier out here! I can sell exo data there, and its a place to call home...

I quit playing after they removed their own fresh Thaigoid content. I've never seen a company develop new content just to remove it afterwards.

Elite Dangerous in 2025 is boring as hell. Sitting on 1.5k hrs not planning on comming back, until they add new content / or they are adding titans and spires again. lol fdev.

I what world? Iits a blast to see the same thing you already saw in the codex? Thats pretty boring to me. Why should we explore things we already know about? The codex spoiled all the exploring content.
If they would add a spoiler warning on the codex would be great, because THEN i wouldnt look at it and get spoiled the whole exploration thing.

That's good to hear.

Just before you go...

They haven't removed anything. We won a few battles in a war with the Thargoids that lasted a couple of years. If you think it ends there... Well... Nevermind.

Bye then.

i forgot, we won (because there was no other option right? or did we sit on Timer to destroy them? Nope it was an auto-win.
And then, just because we won they are not able to place at least on spire in the active goid regions? And btw the goid war is over since 5 month. thats just bad gamedesign.
Lets just wait another half year to see the old content HAHAHHAH. Good thing we got a new ship with a copy and paste cockpit HAHAH
