The limpet/brain tree guides were made while limpets were bulletproof.
Try going to a crashed conda and collecting raws from there instead.
Always worked for me.
No.
If you are dong that and the limpets are crashing into the ground, then it sounds like something significant has changed. The distance to de-render should be more than adequate for the limpets to properly orient and not crash into the ground.
Shame really, limpet farming is a lot more fun than SRV farming.
The limpets usually crash not against the ground but against the trees.
When you have more distance between ship and ground, the collision model of the objects (brain trees) is greatly simplified, hence limpets don't collide with them so much and usually most of them survive.
Bomb the entire patch (personaly I find dumbfire missiles much better at this)
Climb to 800m+
Open Cargo Doors
Release limpets
Sit back and watch the mats rolling in, from time to time release more limpets when some die.
I'd recommend you take another try at it. Feel free to give us a video showing that it still works.
Agreed, this is what I do too.
The more you do it the faster it goes.
Would be bad however, if they patch the fact, that you can pick things up with the SRV as long as you touch the material.
It doesn't have to be positioned perfectly like when using the cargo-scoop on a ship.
Trundling around Dav's Hope in an SRV still works, as does farming pirates.
Fill with SRV in ~6 minutes.
So yes, it's about 3x longer to SRV but in the grand scheme of things it's just a few minutes.
SRV is more engaging and aside from timing a limpet fill up I stuck with SRV.
Drop mines/missiles as if you're going to do limpet farming, before you land. Saves a bunch of time because you don't have to bother shooting them out of the trees. Ok it's only a few seconds per tree, but it adds up quickly.
