Stupid Oops! moment
Transferring ships with corrosive cargo when you don't have a corrosive cargo rack in the 2nd ship.... DOH!

Trying to land on an asteroid like Han Solo. He's a big fat liar.
I wish I only had one...

Smuggling cargo (in a Viper 3 of all things), "scan detected" Tried to drop a heatsink and engage silent running at the same time, but I'd not got used to the controls yet... Engaged silent running, and hit the boost button instead of the heatsink button, as I was passing through the mail slot... Exploded at the back of the station as I flew into it at about 410M/s without shields... Also tried my first exploration attempt in that same ship... Made sure I filled the cargo slots with hydrogen fuel canisters in case I ran out of fuel on the way, instead of taking a fuel scoop :steamfacepalm:

My first Thargoid fight, spent about 45 minutes in a cold running DBS fighting one interceptor... With regular beam lasers and multi cannon. I barely took any damage... I didn't do any damage either though :steamfacepalm:

Dropping mines on brain trees to farm materials... First time doing it... Used engineered mine launchers... Turns out flying 50m above the surface, dropping mines with the Ion disruptor special effect, well... Lets just say it's not a very good idea: unless you want to smear your remains across the surface of a planet.

I've probably got more... Those are just the first ones I remembered.

Recently went on titan drive hunt. Found 3, nice session i thought. On my way back, decided for no good reason to jettison my remaining limpets and, of course, jettisoned the drives instead... >_<

I'm not sure if that counts...? We've all done that. Hell... We still do. Repeatedly lol.

As a fun fact, if you're still in the process of undocking when you realize you forgot them (Still on the pad, not released, etc), you can just back out to main menu, log back in, and you'll be fully re-docked and able to pick up whatever it is you forgot.
I like to come out of glide, head for the surface, go to slow down to land and suddenly find out it's a high G world.

Yeah and limpets.

Get-rich scheme shortly after getting my Fleet Carrier: started offering very good prices for core mined minerals (e.g. 300-600 thousand/ton) with idea of making 50-60 thousand/ton at stations. I hadn't taken demand into account and it took me months to unload it all without taking a loss.

Jumping into my long-range combat ship and initiating a jump route sequence, to then start wondering why it's taking me so much longer than usual to cover that distance.

To then find that I have an E-grade FSD installed. Also explained why the heat level was higher.

It was pretty amusing that I was able to plot a valid route with a crappy E-grade to begin with, since I don't do lightweight setups.

Here's a little bonus, too.

I sometimes masslock newbies by flying really close to them while they're trying to supercruise, just to prank them.

One time, I was doing just that while flying my Federal Gunship just behind (like 20 meters behind) a guy in an Eagle. Next thing I know, the guy jettisons 2 tons of cargo in my face and boosts away.

The cargo was drugs. I figured the guy must have panicked when he saw the name Federal Gunship in the HUD.

Took a cargo mission, forgot to actually pick up the cargo since I was clicking the menus so fast, didn't realize it until I was already halfway to the destination.
After Odyssey first came out, I left my SRV on the planet a few times. (I am more careful now).

One time after playing another game, where Tab was the free look button, my son had flown his new anaconda near me so we could look at each other's ships. I was in a fer de lance, brand new at the time. I hit tab to 'freelook' and instead boosted into him, warranting a fine and at the same time sent me in to a darth vader roll, I semi-panicked and boosted again, right into the side of the station and popped me back into a sidewinder. Lessons were learned this day.
Killing everybody in a settlement because a guard began to scan me.... i was sure to have some omnipasses on me until i remember just after having killed the first one that none of something illegal was in my bag... xD
