They boosted the rewards some months ago so you now get a decent supply in return.
Plus by doing missions you remove the RNG factor, as long as you don't fail that is.
Of course, there is still the RNG factor of them being offered as a reward, so combine checking the mission board every time you dock and the NPCs on the concourse and if nothing, go do something else.
Also, while RNG is a factor, sometimes a particular station won't reliably offer what you want but moving to a different station and it might.
At the target there will be a crashed satellite with a data port.
Aslong you don't pickup the bootleg liquor you can relog and do the data port again and again.
Do you talk to all the NPC mission givers in the starport? If you're allied and/or decent merc rank you can negotiate upwards. E.g. get 25 MI from one mission.
