Colony - Future Construction Question
So, I aimed for a bit more than I can chew by myself for my initial choice of having an Orbis Starport.
Technically it would require me to haul 21 loads each day for the duration which IS doable; but I'm wondering if I -should- do so.

The question is, if I swapped to an Outpost; I know that I'll be stuck with it for a while and its permanent; however is it possible to still build an Orbis Starport somewhere in the system afterwards too?

I heard there is no time limits on future construction efforts, which is enticing.
However I'd rather not leave the system to a fate of being just a subpar pass through if the Outpost is the best its ever going to get.

Depends on the system specifics from what I've read. Some systems can have more settlements/stations than others.
In the system architect view you should be able to see (bottom middle I think) the total number of space stations and ground stations you can build in that system. You can cancel your claim on the system from any colonisation contact(I did) and immediately reclaim it, it doesn't even have to be the system you made the original claim from, meaning you could change the minor faction you buy the claim from if you wanted. You will lose your original 25M credits from the original claim, and probably any materials supplied so far. I don't remember if you have to redeploy the beacon, though I know I couldn't immediately when I tried, so you might have to wait a few hours, or for the old colonisation ship to leave. If your original port is an outpost, you will have to build some other supporting facilities before you can build an Orbis or Occellus station, I don't know how many I'm afraid.

Can you even relinquish your claim after putting down the beacon? I sure would have if I could have figured it out. It would kind of suck to have to wait for the four week timer to run down.

If you select a small outpost to begin with, and complete it within the 4 weeks timer, you will then be able to build the system the way you want without timed constraints.

Here's what i learned so far :

There is a system of tier 2 / tier 3 points.
Building smaller outposts and orbital POI will give you tier 2 points.
Building bigger outposts / coriolis orbital stations costs tier 2 points and grant tier 3 points.
The largest ground cities and fancy orbital stations costs up to 6 T3 points.

So if you start with an outpost, and want to build lets say a regular coriolis station, it will require 3 T2 points. It means you will have to build 3 smaller outposts / smaller orbital POI to gather the points required for the Coriolis station. Then, building that coriolis station will spend 3 T2 points and grant one T3 point.

In the end, sarting off with a fancy oculus or orbis T3 station is a huge commitment ; but it also allows you to bypass the requirement of building all the smaller outposts. As a solo player i don't regret starting small. The smaller POI requirements are manageable for a lone cmdr. Going straight for the biggest station with a timer countdown is clearly squadron content.

TL;DR Yes, once your outpost is built, you can build other stuff until the system is developed enough to hold the orbis you wanted, wherever you choose - provided the system has enough room to hold all the pre-requisites.

You gain system points by building additional facilities to support larger and larger constructions.

However .. I'm not sure you spend those system points when you build things. I think maybe you just have to have the tier unlocked.

Just re-checked to make sure. The points are spent ; i'm now back at zero T2 points after starting a new construction.
Hrm, I doubt my system of only 5 will be enough to construct a T3 then.
I might just have to suck it up and complete the Starport if I want one in this system.

Some small structures are free in terms of points to be built and ultimately earn one.
Some bigger buildings directly give T3 points, but yeah with only 5 slots it probably wouldn't fit anyways.
I am stoped in my own first System. Small outpost, useless Biolab and useless refinery. These clearly my faults had more look into it. The Outpost Industri is good. Large Biolab on rocky planet nothing to produce, thought something would be produced^^. The Refinery stated in info medium landing pad thought it had trading build in. Nope it needs a Port on planet. The planet has no spots 1/1 +better on a high metal content world.
Again my faults had look into other systems before maybe. But i would love a little bit more explanation, okay its FDEV. So it will be Guides in future then. Thats why i stoped and now i go out one system after another with small outposts only. Getting distance and grab special systems maybe for future.

And to be clear "I LOVE THIS UPDATE"! ;-)
