What are you trying to build? Tier?
Even with optimized carrier cargo space and t9 cargo space it is an undertaking. My strategy has been to build out the lowest number mats to the highest. My carrier can deliver with each shipment an 8% completion upon delivery to the colonizer ship. Not going to lie...very mind numbing grind and if a player does not have RL time, probably impossible to do solo. So I feel for ya.
entirely my own fault . when faced with lots of text i just spammed through it and before i knew i picked the biggest space station and planted it right next to the sun lol . but was even more shocked when i saw the time limit. :/ . and the type 9 lol blink and it goes into a gravity well setting the throttle to only 30 percent of the recommended blue bar speed and still it goes into gravity well if you dont nurse it all the way .
Want to see how good/bad it is.
1st problem, getting to a shipyard with a 6A FSD SCO.
Good thing i have fuel injection materials because current range is 5,44 ly :D
It does feel good to load up on 772t!
I have a T9 with supercharge drive and 788t of cargo and can make a trip from the system nearby to the colonization ship every 9-10 minutes, so I can load around 4600 tons per hour without a cruiser. I think is not the most optimal but I don't have a cruiser xD
Even with A rated thrusters it can barely scratch 200 m/s when fully loaded.
When upgrading from E rated to A rated thrusters, the only thing i could feel was the price! Over 50 million!
The T9 handles a little bit better but it's still slow.
And the SCO drive is almost useless. I think i need a A rated power plant, the D overheats instantly.
And an extra fuel tank is also required.
So, while it can haul 772 tons, it feels like it's so slow. The T8 hauls 400, but i'd rather fly in and out quickly even if i have to make a few extra trips.
If my colony ship wasn't parked 90,000ls from the primary star, maybe i would use the T9 more. The way it is, the trip is too long.
- I don't hate the ship. Like every ship, it has it's pros and cons. This job doesn't suit it.
The T8 flies better and has a chance to evade pirates, plus it can eat 90,000Ls for breakfast.
I think it's the better choice.
This is why I don't use it for trips more than a short hop like 9Mm in distance. For hoping between stars I use the cutter. I also use my carrier to park as close to the source as possible. Sounds like you don't have a carrier?
It's annoying indeed. Missing out on all events such as Thargoids.
But the lure of pristine, undiscovered systems a few jumps away is just too strong for me.
I'm not too knowledgeable about the workings of colonization but all I want is to build a small outpost on some desolate frozen planet.
I suppose you need to build a starport before building an outpost? If that's the case then I'll try to be patient and look at it as a long term endeavour.
