Colonization update hit like a kick on a beehive, every FC is jumping around ;)
Even more real is when you start getting 'no free slots'
I'd say it's because 90% of the playerbase is loading their carriers with goods and moving them around to colonise systems.
It should smooth out soon, but player numbers are crazy right now.
So what would happen if Elite became a wildly successful game and the player count jumps and sticks. Is this just something that could very well be a permanent thing? Why is my carrier jump tied to someone elses especially if I am jumping to an empty system from a system with no other carriers?
I really do not get what is goin on here. It's almost like I will have to wait until people get bored with the new system and quit again just to play with our carrier.
That's my main issue with this new update. instead of focusing on fixing bugs and optimising servers, they just add a half-assed game mechanic that adds further bugs. My internet connection is pretty good, but my team and i were lagging like hell when we tried to hunt for bounties in the CG system. I've gone out to the black and been kicked from the game at least 12 times in three days. Carriers are unusable unless you're willing to wait for hours and it's only gonna get worse.
I'm sure they'll add more servers if that's the case and it becomes a permanent problem.
More players = more money = more servers. Assuming they actually spend any money on Arx, ever.
Wait... Are you saying that Carriers are on their own server? I am no programming wiz but why are player ship jumps not affected like carrier jumps? Now I would get it if there are no slots available in the system you are trying to go to but if you jump from a system with only your carrier to another with 0 carriers why the 1+ hour wait?
I was there a few months back, you're lucky everyone is heading back to the bubble... Traffic jams have been known to happen up there.
When your ship jumps, it's just your ship... It doesn't affect anyone else.
Fleet Carriers aren't ships. They're space stations that affect everyone, regardless of game mode. Moving it requires updating the servers for everyone, not just you. This takes longer than a regular system jump, and the more players that want to move their carriers at a given time, the more time it takes...
Now multiply that by 5-10,000 as people try to jump their carriers endlessly during this rush of colonisation and hauling
Which is why I've left mine parked out on the edge of the Pleiades for now lol.
It's "just" a game... Why do I do this... Is it still fun?
