That sounds pretty messed up indeed. Well at least he can self destruct and save some money compared to repairing the ship, but that's not the way it should be, in my opinion. Not very logical as you say.
Hopefully it will get fixed soon.
and this isnt just usual wear and tear costs
Thanks for sharing that link. Obviously this is a bug, and it's nice to see the devs are responding and looking into it.
Will probably get fixed in the next patch :)
There is no way to 'remove' the insurance, as far as I know.
But it would be nice to have that as an option. I agree with you, we're pretty spoiled by having a 95% insurance in this game, and for no cost, even!
I wouldn't mind increasing the realism a bit by removing the insurance.
But this thread was about the fact that you actually save money by self-destructing your ship and getting it back fully repaired for 5% or the full cost, compared to repairing a damaged ship which will cost you a lot more.
It makes no sense :P
No the thread was about the cost of a Hull repair, I think youre smoking youre own socks!
It sounds like a bug, if the insurance cost is lower than repairing, but I see a lot of people moaning in the linked thread just about the new higher and (for me) more logical repairing costs.
I took about 50% hull damage (+minor module damage) two days ago with my Anaconda and the repair cost me about half of my insurance (2,7 million CR), which seems reasonable, because the ship consists mostly of hull. Low repair costs will only lead to careless flying and fighting. The new repair prices will treat you to learn how to care about your ship.
Woah, slow down buddy.
If you're looking for an arcady game, then you're the one, who's in the wrong place. And your racing game comparison is totally lacking, because none of the drivers is paying for their cars themselves. Heavy damage is heavy damage and in terms of racing games this can mean that you're out of the race. I think you're just mad about the fact that you have to actually watch and think about what you're doing. No penalties lead to reckless flying/driving.
And paying half of the insurence cost to repair a half broken ship is alright in my opinion.
As a side note: You don't know me. Making some ridiculous assumptions about my life will only lead to lasting negative impressions about your own character. Great job.
Nice!
