So it seems trading is a bust.
Other than high cargo hold, long distance rare commodity trading, I've just sifted trhrough the database, and the maximum trading profit available is about ~$3000 per cargo space, per ~60 light years round trip. So if you have say 50 cargo space, you're looking at about $150,000 for traveling 60 light years. Which is pretty darn weak if you ask me, especially considering that's the best deal in the WHOLE galaxy.

I mean I could make that on one mission, when they're available. So it seems there are no magical secret places to make insane profit, unless of course you have tons of cargo space. But even at say 200 cargo space, that's only 600K for a run, which means you'll probably need 60+ runs to buy that ship anyways.....most likely more...for various reasons; whether it's being attacked, robbed, supply running dry, demand running dry, etc.

So mining sucks.....trading sucks....how the heck do you make tons of money fast?

You should know that the database (trading tools) are updated by users. This doesn't mean there aren't any more profitable trade routes out there.

PS: trading rocks!

Nah I checked the one that reads directly from the ED database, not user based.
3k/t isn't bad, but at that distance, that station your going to better be damn close to the system star. I'd personally love 3k/t; I can get only about 2k right now.

If you don't have a T7/Python/Anaconda/T9, trading is almost less profitable than Bounty Hunting; or at least 1.2 Bounty Hunting.

Ultimately, yes, it's going to take 60+ runs to get effectively anything with trading. That's just because the game is really grindy. There's no avoiding it, unless you can do some Community Goals and stay in the top 5% by the end of the event (can net you up to $20 Million ontop of any profit made while participating).

Didn't know there was a trading tool, which directly reads from the ED database, my bad. Where's the fun using it?

3k/t is a great ratio though, won't complain about it.

Just so you know using any tool that reads the memory of Elite to give you commodity values/trade routes is against the ToS/EULA, and as been said on their official forums since august last year, anyone found using such a tool will be subject to a permanent and non reversible ban from the game.

Not making that up either, but being such a smart fella/gal you should be able to find that out.

I'm not talking about any program that you download. It's just a trading info site, that reads from a publicly available ED database, which I'm pretty sure is made available by the devs. Think of it like a spreadsheet database.

There is tools and scripts that read player generated logs directly from the game (option given by FD themselves) and others that read through OCR from the Commodities Market.

You'll be amazed by how people can get crafty... =P

Trading is still the top profit maker in the game, especially if you are a smuggler. Ever smuggled imperial salves, 500 tons worth, in a T9? Millions upon millions of credits.

Imperial Salves? Are they like imperial mints? The new freshen your breath melt in your mouth next to be banned thing in the galaxy, like the onion head?

Just kidding mate.
