There are no real Missions or a storry around a player, only simple tasks.
(And you don't make yourself a big company with automated trade ships. Or mining bases.)
The Economics are pretty static and limited. (Yes prices change, but in limited borders.)
You have to set your own goals and targets.
It is more a basic space simulation with progression in welth and rank than a normal game.
The fascination comes out of the real milkyway and its known star systems and nebulas.
If you can enjoy just visiting them because you always wanted to be in certain places it is cool.
Those places looking all the same for some people, but others notice the diferrent ligtings of the stars or the stations. Its like some enjoy nature and to others it is just dirt and trees and all the same.
The game looks fantastic and feels real inside its world. After one year i still often spend time just watch the sun shining through asteroid fields, lighting the scenery in an ever different way.
Bounty Hunting and combat is fun.
The more the better your equipment is. (Hotas and Head Tracking)
The immersion is great. You have a feeling of wideness and lonelyness in space.
Earning credits and outfit your ship or aim for a better one is a stron motivation too.
(But don't let you fool yourself in the grind to the biggest ship only. That might be frustrating.)
I also have to ask if it'd be worth just getting it now or waiting for a further sale. Or just not getting it and waiting until the next big sale and getting a few other games just in case this game doesn't go on sale until the last day or something.
E:D is certainly worth playing, even more so if you enjoy space sims. However, at the current point in E:D's life with the recent release of powerplay still being a bit buggy and the XBone timed exclusive it may be better to wait and see where the game is going. Nonetheless I would still recommend it to my friends.
said by the person who's playing ED. way to back up your words.
It shows warframe for me right now :P
was in Elite when that was posted.
Good points. I'll probably wait until the next sale to get it unless someone else can convince me otherwise before tomorrow's sales start.
Cheers.
