Carrying A Friend Around...
Hello again,

I've got questions.... Again?!

When I have someone on my team in my ship and I decide to go a long distance journey.

1a. What happens if they leave during the middle of the journey and I continue playing?

1b. What happens if they leave during the middle of the journey, after we've already landed on some planets?

2. The taxi doesn't come out to get you from so far, right?

3. What would one do, to leave a planet after they've been left behind, which doesn't include killing yourself?

4a. I heard of an "unstuck" option in the help settings. Could you get penalised for using this feature whenever you're left on a planet?

4b. Does the "unstuck" option just move your character into space with your currently activated ship wherever it was last time?

---

I want to travel with a friend, but her jump distances are very little. Mine however would get us from A to B much faster. I would take her with me, but I don't want her to get stuck, solely because she went to do other things. I also don't want to not be able to play if she leaves, because then she'd be stuck in the middle of nowhere once I leave. Another thing I wouldn't want is for her to use the "unstuck" option if there's one, and get into her ship with 100+ jumps back to civilization.

In which case I'm guessing, perhaps it's better to explore alone for the time being, have her upgrade her ship and then go together?

Unstuck puts her back in her ship in orbit. No cost unless she's lost the ship beforehand (destroyed)

If she logs out on foot, she'll respawn on foot at the last space station/carrier she disembarked at, or even a settlement. Somewhere where she can get an apex or call her ship.

Once you have a fleet carrier it all becomes a lot easier though.
It can be tricky to play "together" with ships of different jump ranges, however if you team up, there are advantages like joint recognition for new system discoveries. I've done a long trip once with a friend, but we took my Alt carrier and jumped it 500ly on a planned route, then went out exploring the local area on our own and met up again at the end of the daily session. That worked well, but you have to both be fully committed to the journey.

Alright, so if we only disembark on planets and she needs to sign out, after which I go further and leave her behind, upon her return she'll spawn in a habitable zone where the taxi can reach her? Not on the last planet she visited? I guess this isn't considered a death, so all the scans and everything will also remain?

As for FCs, I can get one already, but I haven't read into how all that works yet, I'll consider this option.

Yea, just want to explore new planets with her, but there's a good chance we'll have real life things come up at different times, so I'm just trying to avoid situations where she's stranded or gets spawned in her slow ship, needing an insane amount of jump to return to the bubble, OR that she spawns on a planet without anything and slowly suffocates because I'm not playing in that moment. In this case she won't be able to play until I return, or just kills herself to respawn, but then loses everything she collected. So, this is what I'm trying to clarify, because it might not be worth it at the moment.
IRL issues can crop up on a long trip. Honestly if you can go for the carrier, it would make your Elite life so much easier with all your ships and modules in one place. The upkeep is peanuts compared to what you can make on Exobio, CZs or mission stacking. It sounds to me like the carrier would solve any potential trip problems.

Yea, I heard the upkeep is about 10M at minimum and you can easily get 10M.

I'll look into this more, but what about fuel, I know it doesn't have a scoop and uses something like Ytterium, can't remember correctly. If I run out, I would just use my mining ship and mine for it at some nearby system or does one have to do more to refill it?

The minimum upkeep is 5m. As you start to add services it goes up. Max is around 30 or so with all the services, including on-foot bar, pioneer, vista, etc.

For an exploration carrier you want to be able to hand in both kinds of data, and you want rearm, repair and refuel.

If your friend only has one ship you don't the shipyard. Outfitting lets them store spare modules on the carrier. If they're going to travel with you at all times, I would recommend both. Then they will always be wherever your carrier is, with all modules and ships.

(I have 3 friends who haven't played for several years, but all their ships and modules are on my main account's carrier.)
You can mine Tritium. Or you can buy it from the markets or other carrier owners.
Alrighty, thank you all for the infos.
At least I've got something to go by and I'll look into FCs and actually consider it then.

34,950,000 on a fresh week (no jumps) with everything enabled.
