Exobiology - Are you sure you know where to look?
“Seek and you shall find”
“The darkest place is under the lantern”

A week ago, a huge expedition—4 hours (real-time game) in one direction, 4 hours in the other, and a few hours in between. I won't say it wasn't worth it...
but...

Today, just out of boredom, just to feel the roleplay thread, I thought—maybe in this system, which I support here, where I’ve already spent 400 hours of gameplay, I might explore all the planets here, after all, I live here.

And...
In this local system, these two planets were without first-foot steps, they had some biology on them... and in just 1 hour, over 20 million came in—shocking.

Is this AI generated?

Not sure the point if this...

The point is, I thought that to earn credits in Exobiology, you had to fly 800-1600Ly from the edges of the last settlements. It turned out that you just need to check the system you're in ;)

It seems there are still unexplored biological items, even in systems with high traffic. And occasionally, you'll come across a planet without a first footfall.

Maybe you got bonuses for the first timer who doing an exo on those two undiscovered planets.

Or, you complete all high-value sample variants from those planets.

Or, it was your first exo.

No, not the first exo. 3x high-value sample variants (out 5, in 2planets). 1 first footfall. With PP bonuses I get 33mln now.

It seems that everyone assumes that in normal systems with high traffic, where many players operate daily, everything has been scanned and explored multiple times. And first footfalls have been a thing since the release of Odyssey. But here you go.

I've gotten first to completely scan a system when traveling between two engineers in the bubble, so there's still plenty of exploration left to be done even very close to Sol.

I don't know what to make of it.

I got credit for some discoveries that i could not have realistically made. There's no way that no one scanned the planet or bio specimen in question.
Just no way.

For example, i got credit for this:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3421118330
That is in the Lave sector, and it's quite a frequent destination for enough players. Someone should have scanned *that* planet. It's not a prize somewhere outside the bubble. It's right in front of us.
I scanned it for the cash but then i also got the discovery bonus when turning it in.

It is said that someone was once in the same system as an undiscovered raxxla-related secret, but that cmdr never explored the system.

Keep your mind curious - you never know what players have been missing this entire time.
So, is this still the cutting-edge meta for making credits? Jerking the ship up and down 3 times to gather 3 samples of the same 4.5 plant variations? And someone had the audacity to call that billionaires boulevard.

Spent a couple of months unlocking permits in the bubble and decided to combine it with exploration; earned me ~300mil and as you say you can get first discoveries.

There is indeed no strict need to go outside the bubble to explore.

There are no nebulae in the bubble however, and very few stellar phenomenon.

If you want first footfall yes, but I've earned "billions" just following that billionaire's boulevard which is mostly in the bubble

The truth is, you can go around the bubble scanning already discovered plants and make a small fortune. Easily enough to buy and outfit yourself a decent ship, if you're still newish at the game.

Same goes with mapping planets. In my opinion, the easiest way to earn the cash to buy and outfit my first ship when starting a new commander is to stick a DSS on my Sidewinder and jump from system to system scanning ELWs.
