How to dismiss a collector limpet drone?
I can't launch a prospector drone until one of the collectors expires. Any way to get rid of collectors?

Or just try to not launch max no. of limpets when collecting?

^^ this.
I fit a separate 1A prospector for this very reason.
Close the hatch and run away full speed to lose them they cant keep up with ur fast ship. But they get destroyed when u go too far. lol

That's a pretty good idea. I don't want to lose all collectors but at the same time, i don't want to sit there waiting.

When outfitted for pure mining, this is an option but i've had to sacrifice some modules to include exploration equipment on the Type 8.

I know i'll get letters, but i want to investigate signals and anomalies, shoot down skimmers, pew pew some mercs and scavengers, and do other kinds of things. Scan systems, collect bio samples, look under rocks.

The nice thing about doing exploration stuf in a mining ship is, you can tuck in immediately when you find something tasty.
4A power plant weighs less than the 5D, and has a touch more power... Better thermal management too.

Can't really suggest much else without sacrificing usability or cargo space.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Power is ok if only one Sub-Surface missile launcher is active, and there is no point to using more than one. I carry more because ammo runs out very quickly.
It didn't occur to me to check the size smaller power plant. I was pretty sure i didn't want more than the 5D if i could help it.

Also, the refinery is kinda crap but that's because i couldn't be bothered to look for a better one, then forgot about it.
5 bins isn't enough imo.

Don't the lower-grade refineries take more chunks to create each ton of ore?

I have no idea if this is the case. Presumably no.

I think the only things that change are bin count and energy usage. And price of course but that is meaningless once you cross a certain treshold.
A 2.5 million refinery is a big ask for a new pilot just starting out but it's not really an important figure if you have more than a couple hundred million.

Not having enough bins is an annoyance because i have to flush valuable ore to make room for a new kind.
Say i have 5 bins of valuable ores at 30%, 55%, 80%, etc. and crack an asteroid rich in a 6th type. I am now forced to flush one of the bins to make room for the new one.
1t of ore goes into the inventory only once the impure chunks have been processed and the bin has reached 100%

As far as i can tell, only the chunk yield matters. Higher yield chunks ...yielding more pure ore for the bin.
Sometimes a chunk is rich enough to fill up a bin past 100% in which case 1t is generated and the remainder placed in the bin at some %.

Imo 6 bins should be minimum, 8 or 10 are prefereable.
you can use the ECM utility part, but it will kill all your limpets in range

A 4A has 10 bins.

A 4D has 5.

You'll still be doing that even with 10 bins. Only way to avoid it is to add all the stuff you don't want to the ignore list straight away, and you'll still have to dump some low value junk.
