What the Frizzuckin Fiddlesticks
Hip 97950, or the trap you first start out in, has kiosks and missions, but if you get killed or anything like that you get sent to the plum opposite of the Galaxy map. Then, if you have completed missions youre gonna want to make it all the way back to the trap. If youre lucky enough to do that, once you get to the CLOSEST planets to the Trap, its Quote, unquote TOO Far for a shipping manifest.

Yet here i am day Three having this same problem over and over.

Is there anything I can do besides get my own ship?

You're going to have to be clearer about what you're trying to do. What do you mean "get my own ship"?

When taking missions, read the description carefully, check the destination. If the mission says deliver something to a system 22k LY away, you probably don't want to be taking that.

How are you getting sent to the other end of the galaxy? If you're just starting out, you're starting the starter systems. When you die, if you were wanted, you will get sent to the nearest prison station, which won't be that far from where you died. If you were not wanted, then you will respawn at the last station you docked at.
I'm assuming you are only on-foot, so I'd recommend taking delivery missions. Take missions initially to build your credits. Don't take high risk missions right away until you are ready. I'd definitely take the starter sidewinder. It gives you more options to make credits (e.g. Exobiology). This is important early on, but less so when you are a billionaire. My Alt left the starter zone right away and traded up to a Dolphin, then a Python and then I made my first billion taking "non-mining" mining missions in Cubeo and just buying the goods in next-door systems, e.g. Lambda-1 Tucanae. Build your reputation with local factions to get the best mission rewards.

OP, you say "get my own ship" and that says to me you still don't have one. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

It's not well-communicated but if you haven't already, you'll need to speak to the NPC behind the kiosk at the InterAstra store inside the station's concourse.

You'll be taken to the ship flight tutorial, after which you will have your very own Sidewinder sitting in the hangar.

Once you've done this you're free to upgrade and outfit that Sidewinder as you see fit, as well as buy new ships.
