New Pilot Starter System Permits
Have recently seen a fair number of new pilots taking missions out of Chamberlain's Rest, presumably after completing the Odyssey tutorial, then not being able to return to CR to turn the missions in.

Just rolled an ALT on my Epic account - started Odyssey, did the tutorial, added some cargo racks to my Sidey, then jumped up to explore a RES just above the station. Figured I'll help the cops and earn some cash. Could not enter the RES instance, as I did not have a "permit." ?????

Tried to go back to CR - cannot go there, as I do not have the permit. Opened the side panel, status, checked permits -- guess what -- no Pilot's Federation Starter System permit. Hmmm..... Interesting.

WIped the save, started a new Horizons game, finished the pilot tutorial, Coelho Station - and I have the permit now. Exited, started Odyssey, the permit is still there.

Just reported the issue on the support page. If this sounds like the problem you've been hearing about or experiencing with new players and Chamberlain's Rest - I'd appreciate the confirmation/upvotes on the issue.

Yea I fell victim to this design too, was told to abandon it and move on.

Thank you for testing and reporting this.
happened to my friend, we both got confused why it was given to new starters as this causes confusion on how navigation works with a new player and can cause a rage quit for others who get overwhelmed and lost with where they are floating with no fuel lol

The difference is that you lose the Chamberlain's permit instantly and can never return.

The Coelho area permit you keep until you rank up.

And you are sent a message explaining that the permit has been revoked, so you won't suffer any nasty surprises.

I wasted my entire night yesterday because of this.

Here's how it went.

I took a delivery mission. I go there. I need to get inside a locker with a password. Turns out I went into a restricted area to find Locker #3 but it was wrong locker. I get shot and die.

I wake up in The Armored Saint, space police prison HQ. I try setting course back to CR with my ship. Says it's out range (didn't notice the permit thing, thanks). Then I try to Taxi myself there, still out of range.

After realizing the permit thing, I try to go back to The Armored Saint. It's also locked out. Can't go home, can't get back to my ship. I go to a random settlement and cut a panel off to get arrested again. I get sent back to jail and back to my ship.

So I found out that CR's permit is a special permit given to new players to prevent griefing from other players. And of course, I found out about after using Google and not in-game documentation.

Absolutely terrible design. I'm not surprised the game has bad reviews.
I think it's an issue/bug with the Odyssey tutorial - which is why I opened the issue ticket with FDev. Every time I tested it - I never, ever, even received the permit. I spawned at Chamberlain's .... launched, went into the rings around the darn planet to bounty hunt for cash - never left the system. Heck, never left the one planet. Could not return to CR. Never had the permit at all.
