Laser mining Platinum

returning from 8 month break Painite got nerfed so i figured id try laser mining Platinum. Tried 2 pristine metallic rings with Platinum hotspots 150 asteroid surveys and not 1 with Platinum. did they nerf Platinum along with the Painite at the same time?

Seems highly unlikely. I know you said you're in a metallic ring, but it wouldn't hurt to double check if it's really metallic instead of metal rich. A lot of players have made that oversight before.

There are many metallic rings with Platinum hotspots, some within the Bubble. And the previous reply is correct, Metal Rich rings also spawn Platinum hotspots, but don't spawn laser percentages.

*ANY* metallic ring will have laser percentages for Platinum, but the hotspots will spawn a very high frequency of rocks with higher than average percentages. I generally find more than 5 rocks with 66.7% Platinum within 45 minutes, quite often clustered in close proximity.

If you'd like a system to check out -- 21 Eridani (anarchy, pristine, and very very near to BGS Markets which pay 250-290K for it).

Thanks, it appears I was just having some extremely bad luck. moved on to a new system with a 2x overlap. a few asteroids in and now making bread.

My suggestion is tomine in HazRes at Lalande - stay 16-20 away from the hazrez center and mine for the bonus chunks. htere is a list, oh btw your ship needs to be combat cappable for hazres otherwise just use a normal hotspot in the link i shared.
