Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

If I hate it, can I go back to plain Elite Dangerous Horizons?
Thinking about buying it - but my fear is that I'll hate it, and not be able to play Elite Dangerous Horizons with the Odyssey dlc.

Set me straight about this.

You can switch between them seamlessly at present. Odyssey doesn't force you to do anything. Odyssey plays pretty much the same as Horizons but with the option to get out of your SRV / ship and do on-foot exploration and missions.

Your game performance will likely take a hit if you take on busy FPS combat missions on foot, unless you have a recent spec machine. It can be a bit random though. My Alienware 1070 i7 manages fine. Even my old 1050gtx i7 laptop can run it on high settings (again, no FPS combat zones).

I doubt that you will hate it, because the core gameplay is still there. I'd approach it not looking for an FPS shooter, but view it as an extension to Horizons that maybe should have always been there?

Don't know if it's fixed, but last I tried, all of your keybindings get wiped when you switch.

Last time I switched, it only appeared to affect fire groups and my SRV drive settings. Will test it again to make sure. So, yes - make a note just in case.

You can backtrack with your save, which is actually an impressive feature IMO. You can have all endgame Odyssey items, go back to Horizons, and will only temporarily lose your Odyssey content. You're safe to go back to Horizons and refund Odyssey.
