When is Odyssey going free?

I paid for Horizons Season Pass and I got shafted, I haven't bought Odyssey and will not buy it just for it to go free some time after again. Plus I was under the impression Horizons Season Pass was an actual Season pass that included future content which it never did since they asked for more with Odyssey.

Horizons came with 4 'seasons' of content already, including the Engineers, the Thargoids and fleet carriers.

The only people who got Odyssey for free were 'Lifetime Expansion Pass' holders, and that was about 4x the price of the season pass.

If you wait for a sale you can get Odyssey for under 10 bucks.

FD realised they need money after a lot of terrible decision.

they are literally on live support with paintjob sales, and whatnots from the ingame store.
no way they going to even the odds with odyssey.

there is no sign of elite : D dying anytime soon, but also no sign of the game getting some worthy content either (unless we count skins and ships early access as such ... i wonder which other game made that but better ... oh right one that should not be named here... we all know which i'm talking about).

Most of the player base is on Odyssey already, nothing is being sent.

The message is simple: The horizons season pass entitled you to four horizons add-ons, which were delivered.

It was not a lifetime expansion pass, which cost 4 times as much.

You know ED is not really dead when creators still manage to make 1-5 videos a week on it.

Absolute pipedream. FDev has never figured out how to monetize ED, so they still depend on game sales. Considering that no niche of gamers spends more to play than sim gamers it's really incredible FDev never figured it out.

Of course they've obstinately refused to listen to their players. I started calling them FDeaf on their forums and they actually blacklisted the term. Lol.

ED isn't dead, but it is on life support and has been since EDO dropped. Hopefully the new CEO will shake things up, I'm certainly not the only CMDR looking to return after hearing recent news.

Imo it would make sense if ody was part of the base game by now, but then they'd just bump the overall price up.
You're really better off just buying it if you wanna play it, no point obsessing over the miserly cost of ody that you'd only spend on some crap anyway.

Prebuilts and early access ships seem to be a very nice earner, but we won't know until they publish their end of financial year figs.

There's a chart floating around with a lifetime earnings for each of their games. ED has been flat for a while, so it will be very interesting to see what the recent uptick in interest and monetisations has done.

The chart I've seen shows their main franchises (planet coaster, planet zoo, jurassic, elite) over the years.

They're literally selling a Premium edition of Elite which is $1 more than the base game, and includes Odyssey.

I doubt they'll ever include Ody for free because the base game has an age rating of 7, and Odyssey is 16.

I support pre-selling ships. They should sell ship interiors individually, starting with a small ship to test the waters. Tie-ins with joystick/throttle manufacturers to sell players an ingame model of their setup would absolutely sell. There's so much they could do.

Yeah exactly. If they ever do make Odyssey free, it'll get rolled into the next DLC when they're ready to work onto the one after that (if any) and you'll still have to buy Odyssey.
