I always thought SE set a great example in it's transition from 'space to sky' - someone pointed out to me that the multiplay bit of ED could make that more problematic somehow? Guess we must wait & see. (great vid btw).

yeah perhaps there will be a transition, for entering and leaving the atmosphere. But that must be bound to a timer, or you just could flee easily from a fight near atmosphere and shouldn't be initiated on its own if you are to close to the atmosphere of the planet.

Apparently it's seamless, no loading, you just enter a different type of supercruise that gets slower and slower as you get closer to the planet, presumably so it can stream assets in fast enough to texture the landscape and what not rather than you blasting over it way to fast to populate with anything other than a mesh.

no not really, but you can travel anywhere, with your eyes only, "just" visual. But free!

No, it's more of a virtual touring application for the universe. There's a possibility to use space ship, but it's not a game.
