How do you listen to custom music in Elite: Dangerous?

I've heard people listen to their own music whilst playing Elite: Dangerous. Is there a way they listen to it ingame? Or have I misunderstood and they play their songs outside the game whilst playing it?

The sound environment in this game is so rich and polished why would you want to ruin it by blasting music? Sometimes the crackle of your engines and the silence of space is all you need. Its a great way to unwind from the day.

If you set your game to border less fullscreen, you can overlay your music player. You can also get a plug-in for Firefox that always keeps it above other windows. I've taken to making Firefox very small, putting it in a corner and watching Netflix. If you're grinding trade runs that works wonders.

The Steam overlay Shift+Tab ingame has a basic music player that will play music that you have on your pc. Its basic but gets the job dont

Also your music library can stream into the game via Voice Attack if you have it... just set it up and ask your AI crew to begin the play. I'm sure there is a tutorial for this in the VA forum.

It's your way. Doesn necesssarily apply to everyone. Ever heard of other people having different mindsets, tastes and attitudes to life which determines what matters most to them and what doesn't? How boastful and self-absorbed is that to even dare to question what is of somebody's personal liking just because it isn't your way?
