Kill Warrent scanner
very new to the game (most hours clocked are afk) but I have a question on this, so far I've got everything that needs to be in a "fire group" pinned into a single group (weapons, missle launchers) I also have the Kill Warrent scanner grouped there as well so my assumption is that when my weapons are deployed the KW will kick in and all I need to do is hit the same key I used to for "Scan Ship" and the upgraded scanner will find additional warrents? or is there something else I should be doing, specific keybinds?

any advice is appreciated or a simple link to something that can explain a bit more how the kill warrent scanner works would be fine as well.

Thanks :) and may you be blessed with a cup of amazing coffee at whatever time of day you desire.

Basically, the Kill Warrant scanner uplinks data to the galactic network and grants you kill warrants outside of the system you're in. So for example, you might be in Federation space, but your kill had a bounty in Empire and Alliance. Without the Warrant Scanner, you'll only get credit in the system. With the scanner, you'll get credit in Empire and Alliance, that you can cash out when you visit one of their stations.

So long story short, it's a very useful tool if you're bounty hunting.

Yep, you'll start to see your list of bounty claims grow.

kw scanner works like a weapon. you have to hold down the fire button and if it is sharing that button with a weapon it will fire that weapon.

wait, what? so assuming i have my scan button set to "whatever" then I need to hold the button down for "x" amout of seconds for the kill warrent scanner to kick in?

Scanners have certain range, 3.5km is the best one, 1.5km for the cheap one.

Yep you need to keep the ship targeted while holding down the button until the scan completes.. If you "lose" the lock if you hold down the button and re-aquire the target the scan will continue .
I run my Kill Warrant Scanner in it's own Firegroup and I just use my main fire trigger, so I scan my target then flip to my Weapons Firegroup and I don't even have to release the trigger and my lasers are firing.

when you target a ship and start the KW scanner you'll see a pair of lines moving from the outside of the reticule to the middle, or the bar on the side list will start filling up. once that is done you have scanned them and the additional bounites will show up after the kill.

Normally it's more bounty in the same system but you can (and will) get them in other areas as well. I'm playing in Empire space so they show up as "Federation" and "alliance" and sometimes "Empire" but those get turned in at any station since I'm already in Empire space. For the other two I just have to go to a system that has a fed or alliance power in control to turn them in.

OK, Thanks, I knew I was missing something (the holding down part)
