Pledging to a power?
How do I pledge to a power? Do I have to go to the system where their headquarters is or can I do it anywhere?

Can I pledge to more than one power? Is it possible to get perks for more than one power? I want the exploration data bonus from Li-Yong-Rui but the other factions have some nice weapons too. The enforcer cannon that Pranav Antal has looks interesting.

Thanks for the help.

You can only join one power but may leave at any time.. Personally I'm pledged to Pretreus as they're the lowest Empire faction and need the help.

I also like the trade buffs I get with Pretreus, the discount off Empire Class vessels and I'm looking forward to the "Advanced Accelerator"

I use a lot of munition weapons too, prefering them to laser weapons and the ammo is heavily discounted... I take down your shields and you're dead..

I also like the fact that they are in the centre of the faction "galaxy" world...

To pledge, just pledge... To do the faction you pledge to missions you need to work out of either thier home system or one of their control systems.

Choose wisely... See you out there.

I don't see a powers panel shortcut in the controls menu. What button do I press to reach it? Is it something only available at a station? I couldn't find it there either.

You can click on the faction that you like, then look for "pledge to.... " Some where along the bottom (ish) of the screen.

Do I get merit points by turning in exploration data to a station controlled by my power? Or do I have to do missions?

Every faction has specific actions you have to do to gain merits. Exploration data won't help.

It's all listed and explained in the faction screen. There are actions for Preparing a system, Expanding into a system, Fortifying a system and undermining an enemy system.

There is a cool down period before you can rejoin/join a power, 24 hrs to a week... something like that. be ready though, they'll be sending people after you for daring to leave.

I was plegded to federation. I can perhaps just give my opinion from experience till now. If you are pledged to a power faction, be prepared to have a face off with a enemy now an then from the other 2 opposition factions and dont panic when you hop around and enter hostile(shown above your signal indicator on the left panel) systems. You will be labelled as a enemy in that system, so you will get trouble. Try doing bounty hunting in a hostile system..quite fun lol. Since I left and have no power faction, I can go anywhere without any encounters from enemies. I didnt even get hunted down in the 48hrs after i left the Fed. I obviously still get trouble with pirates and criminals(wanted or lawless) hehe. I do suggest to only join a power faction if you have a very good fighter ship and are interested to help the power to grow and maintain it's galaxy power. Politics is too real in this game haha. You build up rep and rank with Fed and empire without being pledged by doing their missions. I was a bit useless trying to help federation with combat missions in my little viper. I havent even hand in a combat bond yet:)

How to pledge:
From your ship, click button 4 (default binding for the right side control panel where you check your ship information) - Far left tab up top, look at the window displayed, you will see "POWER PLAY". Choose your leader.

That's all the guy wanted to know.
