You can use EDSY or Coriolis to fiddle with ship builds. EDSY has average prices as well, not sure about coriolis.

Asp Explorer and Diamondback Explorer are probably good choices

Depends how good a pilot you are I suppose. The AspX has more hard-points, but is a bigger target. The Diamondback has a large size hard-point which the Aspx doesn't, and costs less to replace when you inevitably explode.

I should add that if you're trying for a decent combat build, that kind of eliminates the AspX given your budget.

Despite lacking the large hard point of the DBX, The DBS is a better fighter.
Type-6 can also do some nice jumps with good FSD without engineering...

Surprisingly, the Hauler can also jump pretty far.
Can't remember if it can do 30+ but it's close, and cheap.
A cobra should be able to reach 30 jump range while being a very good generalist
The asp line also has great jump range and is very flexible, but might be a bit expensive to fully kit out
What do you actually want to do?
For just exploring I would say just get a diamondback or dolphin. Exploration equipment is not expensive

Type-6.

Because that will get you money the fastest, just forget about combat ship with long range jump until you can get an A rated python or krait mk2.

But if you are an explorer type, then Diamondback explorer to go out in the black is also a good option and have an insane jump range once upgrade, an amazing taxi.
But yeah, forget about combat with that one too.

Your basic cobra are a better fighter than both of them.
