Some bio have specifics, for example fungi or frutexa only spawn on hills, so you won't find them on plains even when those plains are coloured blue for some reason.
The meta is mostly landing, scanning, back to ship, fly a few hundred meters, land, scan, rince repeat. Gathering all 3 samples on one single landing is not very efficient since running around takes more time than flying around, and using srv is just more menuing.
Generally speaking, just being in the right sort of terrain will get you spawns of what you want, but as you approach, aim for an area where all of the types are close. Eg: edge of a plain with mountains nearby, so you scan the stuff on the plains and then move onto the mouintains without having to go back into space.
