Also make sure to set your Turrets in Target only fire mode
For me at least the technique works really well, might need to remap your firegroup button if you use it though.
I'm not sure this is how it works for me. Selecting a new target after combat ends shouldn't have the turret fire automatically on the new target, I thought that it didn't.
I also have this problem with different setups.
Never touched the settings.
Maybe some are automatically set to auto, when there are different weapons in the same group...or when you have a weapontype as nr 1 and a different as nr 2..
If you're set to "Target Only" live turrets will automatically attack your target. That's literally what they're supposed to do. Turrets are only live if you have pressed the fire button for that turret since you deployed them, and will continue to be live until stowed away.
If you set them to "Fire at Will", they will automatically target any wanted/hostile ships within a 3km radius. With fire at will:
-They won't attack your target (unless it's wanted/high threat)
-They won't attack ships that aren't wanted or hostile to you (they can still be tricked into friendly fire by firing at a valid target as a friendly decides to choose that moment to move through the line of fire - same as any weapon).
-They WILL fire on multiple hostile/wanted targets, making you a high threat to multiple hostile ships.
If you want them to stop firing: change your turret mode, or stow your hardpoints.
the last tiem i used it i targeted a 3 ship squad, made sure the other two ships where being engaged by police before firing on my target, mah stupid smartalick turret decided to fire on the other two and (i think it was a glitch) toasted a federal security eagle cuz i got Blue-on-blued.
