Missing route lines in the galaxy map.
As the title says, I've recently encountered an issue in the galaxy map where the route lines between systems would be totally absent, making navigation aggravating to do at best. Has anyone else encountered this bug (if it even is one and not a sneaky option E:D hasn't bothered to tell me about) and if so, any suggestions or methods for fixing it?

It is a toggle somewhere in the naviagtion tab, just do a good search of the tabs, I am sure I have seen something down in the filter list that disables them.

Thank you for replying so quickly. I've searched the navigation tab and haven't found any kind of toggle for system routes or anything like that (I went through them all just to be sure), however, after a few days of not being able to see system routes in my map they've now just appeared again. I honestly have no idea how they came back considering that I haven't touched the game for a few days as I was researching how to solve this problem. Odd...

Never encountered this, and i've travelled far and wide. Perhaps a graphical glitch on your end?

I think this is the toggle between Map and Realistic view? IIRC, Map view shows common routes, and omits some stars (I think if they have been toggled off in the subparameters - like Economy, Government, etc). Realistic view shows all stars but omits routes. I think.
Or you have found an obscure bug, maybe :)

Toggling between map modes did nothing when the bug(?) was still occuring, the stars where there but no travel routes. I haven't fiddled around with any of the files aside from the UI colours which do not affect the galaxy map (to my knowledge). And I doubt it's something wrong with my PC unless E:D really doesn't like AMD graphics cards or something like that. So it may just be as you've all kindly suggested (thank you for such quick replies by the way) an obscure graphical bug that hasn't been ironed out yet. I'm really not sure, even more confusing is that it sorted itself out only after a few days.
Ok I just loaded up to check, yeah, i got muddled up with something about the line toggle, I was thinking about something else.

But I did notce they only show the lines for about 50 ly radius around you, if you scroll out and move the map a distance they stop drawing. Maybe that is it. Apart from that I am at a loss. I think maybe the lines just show how far your fuel will take you maybe. But I checked ar radom points where the blue lines stopped and they were all within 50 ly.

It was all travel routes, regardless of distance from current destination and even if I was able to jump directly to it. I'm also at a loss, there's nothing online about it (that I could find at least), so I can only assume it's just a weird little bug that pops up for some people and then vanishes shortly after.

Oh those, yeah. With good reason. The further it would have to draw the more permutations it would have to calculate. It would get slower and slower and slower.

You should have seen the route planner back after it was first released, really slow.

Its similar to the Travelling Salesman problem, a well known software development challenge.

Are you sure it is just a graphical error? I notice you only have 12 hours playtime, on Steam at least.

Did you happen to buy a new frame shift drive sometime before this happened? It's possible you accidently reduced your available travel distances, therefore you no longer see the travel lines because you no longer have the ability to travel those distances.

I made the same mistake, ended up having to delete my save and start again from scratch....

Those 12 hours are indeed accurate (although quite a few of them were spent alt-tabbed on tutorials). I recently got a Viper and kitted it out with some nice new guns and a kill warrant scanner and that was when I couldn't see any routes, if I remember correctly my travel distance was about 6.8LY unladen (dreadful I know), however I did buy a new frame shift drive in an act of desperation which raised it up to the high 7s. And then routes could be seen again. That may just be it actually (it seems rather obvious now). Thank you Eedrah.

On the Navigation tab with the Galaxy Map there are 2 options, Fastest & Economic, to choose from when choosing travel routes. Depending on which option you have selected will show/not show route lines between various systems. Hope this helps...
