Can't, move, can't jump, can't do a damn thing!
So, in solo play, some wanted NPC pulled me out of supercruise, no big deal really (other then it took him like 3 seconds to do it, and I usually evade interdiction). However, when I was gonna turn to fight this lone bandit, I lost all thrust capabilities, I couldn't initiate a jump to supercruise, I could shoot but I couldn't maneuver, I lost all shields.
I essentially couldn't do anything, nothing to save myself, at least. So this guys is shredding my hull while I sit there motionless. Now, when my hull is at 50% or so, the Feds show up and give this guy a run for his money (at least, that's what I think happened as I couldn't turn around to see him get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥). So there I sat until I ran out of oxygen. And then.... I exploded.

My question: WTF happened?! Was I hit by an EMP (even though all my monitors and interior lights were on) or was this some extremely stupid glitch? Anyone ever experienced something similar?

Probably took out engines and or thrusters.
There is a repair and reboot option just above the self destruct option on the right hand screen.

Yup, sounds like he was targetting your subsystems.

Did you Systems fail when you Deployed your Weapons? Maybe your Power Plant wasnt delivering enough energy to power all your systems. That may have caused the catastrophic failure?

If you look at the modules section on the right panel you can see if anything has been damaged. Damaged modules can malfunction or totally fail.

Next time try doing a reboot/repair in the functions panel (right HUD screen). That will hopefully get you limping back to civilisation.

if the reboot function doesnt work, your not finnished yet. disable all non essiental modules then reboot again, any module that is turnned off will be completely stripped to repair what ever is criticaly damaged. :) saved a cmdr the other day with this lol
Look into system priorities. You over-extended your power plant's capacity and when you deployed your weapons it shut off all other subsystems to make them work. You can prevent this without fitting cheaper stuff by setting module priorities in the right window making non-combat modules "2" or "3" priority, so that they turn off when you deploy your weapons instead of your ship basically having a stroke.

Google it if this is still confusing, plenty of guides out there.

Thanks for you repies guys! I figured out my power plant's capacity was exceded, and that why it all shut off.
But it's good to know about the reboot option. There are a lot of thing about this game you sort of have to figure out by your self.

One of the very things I love about this game. No hand holding what-so-ever! :)
