Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

Anyone else get a bit of anxiety while playing this game?
Since I already have anxiety, it gets a bit exacerbated while playing this game, since I'm a bit scared of large objects. There's just something about something else exerting control over your ship, like getting pulled out of Supercruise because I got too close to celestial body. It doesn't help that each jump spits you out so close in front of a star. It makes me a bit scared of jumping to new star systems, honestly.

Does anyone have any advice that might help me get over this?

To keep doing it over and over until the feeling "numbs" the only cure for anxiety unfortunetly, Or liqour but damn thats a lot of liqour bud.

EDIT: try getting angry when you feel anxious.

Soon as you drop into a new system slow to a crawl and angle away from the star if it doesn't look like the sun. Once you are familiar with which ones are safe and which are not it should become automatic. Better to always slow down for a split second than slam right into a star and lose your ship and cargo.

First time that happened to me I melted my ship pretty good but it was fun. Managed to make it to a station and repair but now I always slow for a second and then decide if it is safe or not.

The imposing size and speed that you come up at stars through hyperspace I found to be quite exhilirating, and one of the reasons I got this game. I understand your problem, though. Go to your doctor and tell him you need some valium so you can play elite dangerous. He'll understand.

I find having my cockpit blown open and only having 10 min to dock kinda of anxiety causing...

First time I did an inter-system jump through hyperspace I had no idea what was going on. I thought something ♥♥♥♥♥ happened when I looked at my speed readout, and I almost ♥♥♥♥ my pants when I came out of the jump. Been a long time since a game got me nervous like that.

Lean into it and enjoy it. Fear merely reminds you that you are alive. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I kind of feel this way when I use my Oculus Rift with Elite Dangerous. Being able to look down while landing using vertical thrust is an experience. Some times I duck when existing through bases because the enterance is too narrow. I've also seen black hole near Maia with oculus rift and it was anxiety inducing lol
