Binary stars at its most annoying
so I've been playing for 20hrs now and whatever I do, it seems that most of the missions I accept take me back toward a system called LHS 3447

now, problem is, that system has two stars and, of course, I'm transported to one that has no stations when the next has 6, forcing me to travel a extra 10min each times

I wouldn't mind any of those on their own but together, it made my game a chore
I know a jump between binaries isn't possible, nor can you chose which one to jump to in the first place.
what I'm asking is, what solution would you suggest?
I'm pretty new so don't hesitate to lay basic info

The best advice is just to get the heck out of the starting area as soon as possible really. Not only do you then usually avoid that problem, but that area is also way too crowded, as well as full of people who love to interdict and kill new players just for the lols.

Also be careful if you do missions around the Sol area, don't accept anything that sends you to Hutton Orbital in the Alpha Centauri system unless you want a 6,784,404 LS supercruise journey.

Leave the starting area and check the system maps of places before you accept missions, that way you'll know exactly how far you have to travel once you arrive at the target system.

I was kinda looking for that kind of info since I was flying around the same solar system of LS3447 and the starting point solar systems. So I decided to move to Regulus, I hope I will find something interesting there. But before I did that I upgraded to a new ship and took a device that allow me to replenish my energy from the stars (not all of the stars work tho)

Fuel scoops only work on star types O, B, A, F, G, K and M.

You can use the galaxy map to check the star types of the systems you're going to jump into if you need to find a place to refuel without docking, using the filter[i.imgur.com] and also checking the info tab[i.imgur.com] when a system is selected.

Oh thanks for the input, really appreciate

If you're having trouble remembering which star types are scoopeable from just the letters, just remember the phrase "Oh Be A Fine Girl/Guy, Kiss Me", the first letter in each word being the star type (as well as descending in terms of size, brightness and temperature). Helped a bunch in astronomy class, and applying it to E:D to find scoopeable stars has saved me many, many times :P

Alternatively remember KGB FOAM

so, if I get it right, I will have less issues with binaries and missions dragging me toward a specific system if I get away from the starting zone?
I'm still playing in solo, btw, so until I find other captains to travel with, I'm not worried about grieffers

No. The starting system is just a well known binary system with long distances to stations from the primary star.

What you really need to do is check the system maps of places before you accept missions, that way you'll know exactly how far you have to travel once you arrive at the target system.

understood. I was already checking that but the time/money ratio was always favoring that particualr system for some reason
Anyway, moved to another place entirely. I'll see if it keeps happening (the mission favored system at least)

another question I have is:
I was told by a player that the starting point was random for each player but what you guys said hints at the opposite. so, which one is it?

everyone should goto hutton at least once. didnt they add a rare item there too? the hutton mug?

Mission destinations tend to "favour" the closest stars. And missions never appear that require you to travel more than 15 LY, So if you travel further than 15 LY away from LHS 3447, you'll never be asked to go to LHS 3447 again.

There are other stars out there that have no space stations that are close to the jump-in point; LHS 3447 is merely a rather extreme example, and one that newbies are forced to deal with because that's the system they all start in.

Well 1.4 will be introducing well-paying, long-haul missions, which probably should prevent you from returning to the same system over and over. It's on the CQC Stress Test that's available in the launcher if you want to test it out.
(Note, you'll probably be starting over from scratch in the stress test, but that's only in the stress test (it's seperate), the main save on the full game remains the same, don't worry)
