Then its solo play from now on, wich is a real shame in my opinion.
Also there is a private group which forbids PvP such as Mobius.
The think the in-game name for such people are gankers. While perfectly allowable I do think it quite pathetic that people hang around a star waiting to pounce but hey, whatever floats your boat.
Some are pirates and role play, asking for a few tons of cargo. I'm fine with that. Most are good natured and you can chat as you jettison your bio waste!
Certainly, if you mine or are farming for engineering mats I'd stay in solo.
It is sad that such groups reduce the amount of players in open play.
it is named privat, not secondary open.
What ship was the other commander flying?
Also, how much shield HP did you have?
Unlike the rest of users here, I would recommend flying in open (if only to get better defensive skills).
Fighting AI won't teach you anything, need to fly open in order to improve.
If you only ever fly in Solo then you only need to fly well enough to beat the NPC's.
That is totaly ruined by idiots who like to gank other ships they can kill in seconds. I dont need to be good at fighting in a PVP battle, cause i would never ever seek one.
I have been using Mobius for a long time, and I will not return to Open due to the toxicity and lack of true punishment for outright blatant murder.
What made me move indefinitely was trading in a Type 7 back in the day, only to be interdicted by a Python (this was a few systems from Earth, so we are talking very civilised space in the grand scheme of things) and instantly shot at. I even managed to escape, only to be pulled out almost immediately (another gripe of mine. A module that has the power to do that should have a lengthy cooldown to avoid abuse. It shouldn't be about where we jump. If your victim escapes, that is their reward and as it stands, interdiction favours the interdictor far too much).
During the second interdiction, I messaged the CMDR to ask why. He responded with a pleasant FU and moments later, my ship was destroyed and my cargo lost. During the early days, that was one expensive set back.
I played Elite and Frontier on my Amiga so I'm not a youngster, and I have no want or need to waste what time I have to myself with trolls. If I decide to play a shooter, I know what I am getting into. When I play Elite, I want an experience that I had as a kid, lost in the wonders of space, only now with like-minded individuals. Mobius gives me that, and it's been great to meet many others, particularly during Community Goals and the like. 07 has never been so welcoming as you pass another during docking.
So, until there is actual punishment for those that commit crimes, i.e, pushed out of civilised space to fend for themselves (give them actual gameplay changes - pirate stations, etc, where they do live the life of a pirate, and not a pirate for just a few hours before they simply pay off a bounty or destroy their ship), I will remain in Mobius and enjoy my time with other CMDR's who want the same experience.
Simply put, Open players bought this on themselves.
Did they ? And how exactly ?
