Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X Calibration Issue?
Hi, I have just bought a new Thrustmaster joystick and I'm completely new to this game and the stick itself.

I downloaded and installed the latest driver from the Thrustmaster website (Package 2015_FFD_1) and I'm on Windows 10.

On the instructions on the site it says you configure the device and test it by going to Start/All Apps/Thrustmaster/Control Panel. Unfortunately this program isn't installed even though I installed the driver and so I can't seem to be able to calibrate the joystick.

I have gone into the game and started the first tutorial and have noticed that my ship is constantly rotating up in a loop, even without moving the joystick. It's not doing this particularly fast, like it's spinning and I can move the ship around using the stick and accelerate forwards and backwards with the throttle but when I leave go of the controls the ship continues to rotate up.

I haven't mapped any controls yet, just literally started the game and gone into the tutorials.

Please can someone help me get my joystick calibrated and advise about mapping.

I noticed the first tutorial which is a combat one, gives you no information at all about what to do or how to fly the ship. I have watched the suggested video which is 4 minutes of someone telling you how but I would've much preferred to be able to try out the maneuvers myself in the game, plus without really knowing what any of my buttons do, it's hard to follow the video tutorial.

Anyway, thanks for any help.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I have the same flightstick but I'm win7 64 so may not be much help to you. I am almost certain though that you are better off finding some way for Win10 to 'play nice' with the flightstick via any native support as your 1st line of attack. With win7 (for example) I think I calibrated it once a long time ago & I have rarely had to 'calibrate' it in game that I can remember, certainly never in ED. Best of luck anyway - that's a great stick for the money imho :ss13ok:
Well this stick should have full Win 10 support according to Thrustmaster's site. Indeed the latest driver is to add support for Win 10 among other things.

I'm just having trouble getting the ship to stay still when I leave go of the controls. Perhaps a deadzone needs adjusting?
Hello there

Use the win10 calibration app native to windows. (type in joy into the search bar)

also, in game increase your deadzone a little, my TM stick wants to climb a bit, but adding a slight deadzone stops it.

Rgds

Does it spin around when you disconnect the joystick? As in, if you're spinning, and unplug it, does it keep going?

Make super-sure that your stick is completely upright and untouched from the moment you plug it in until windows says you're good to go.

Well I just checked the Win 10 calibration tool you mentioned OrLoK and it looks like my joystick is slightly below center so perhaps this is what's causing my ship to constantly move up?

Then it's an issue with the Hotas, bring it back and take a new one.

I also had once an issue with that one when I bought it from Amazon (was last year), the ship kept moving forward while the thruster was in center position.

Few days ago I bought it again at a local store, no issues at all anymore.

Edit:
What you can try is to so soften/harden the grip, you can change it under the stick.

Uninstall the software. It's not needed.
Ahaaaa! It was as you said Ottomic. I think I must have moved the stick when I was plugging it in and this casued it to go off-axis. I just unplugged it, set it flat on my desk and then plugged it back in and now it's fine. Now I just have to work out WTF I'm supposed to do.

Thanks very much for your help.
I ran into this myself, but it turned out to be my 360 pad had a stick slightly off center causing unwanted input. Actual TM was calibrated fine.

Unrelated, but if you get tired of the default linearity, here is good guide to adjusting it and fixing the bad deadzone on the HOTAS X:

Thanks Ancient, I'll check it out. Have to say the tutorials are terrible. Just tried the first one where you have to destroy the cannisters and it doesn't even teach you the basics of flight! The next one on the list involves shooting down another ship which will return fire so I don't fancy my chances at catching or escaping them if I don't know how to fly yet or what buttons to poress!
Just keep the thrust bar in the blue zone when turning ;) most important tip to know. Then even the combat trainings are easy

Basics are covered in the manual. Read the manual first, start with the tutorials after that. Elite is a rather complex game.
I know this is a bit of an old thread, but I discovered this when searching for a solution to my own calibration problems with this joystick. The two big issues I had were:
1. I had manually set the joystick resistance very high, so it had trouble completely recentering when untouched.
2. The stick was a bit out of calibration, which can be fixed by letting the stick sit straight and either unplugging it and plugging back in, or by pressing the RESET and MAPPING buttons at the same time.
Hopefully this can help out anyone who finds this thread themselves. :D
So if anyone sees this thread: my new stick just got here, I plugged it in, Windows 10 sees it, the calibration tool sees it, Steam works with it...but Elite Dangerous doesn't react to it at all. I'm losing my mind over here.

Might be late by 3 years but make sure you setup the axes in game. I dont have this game but it usually works that way
