Advice for first in-game purchase?
So after jumping in and being slightly overwhelmed by the scale, I figured out how to complete my first mission.

(admittedly, they all seem too hard, either I don't have the equipment to complete or they are too far away)

I will be getting my first 7000 credits! What advice would you give to somebody on how to spend their first paycheck?

Hello there

Save all your pennies by not upgrading your life support to A rated. ypu dont need more than 10 mins of life support...usually!

my first purchase is a new power supply to power the new weapons you *will* want.

Docking Computer is useful as is a fuel scoop.

Have fun shopping!

What type of missions do you do? Trading? Smuggling? Combat? Give us some info :)

Thanks for the advise OrLoK! (aren't you an Mod on the Dayz forums?)

And as for what missions I do, I've only done the one, which was trading, as was the only one I've been able to find that is either not too far or I have no idea how to do (mining). I think for now, at least, I'll stick to trading/smuggling.

I would take out your starting ship's basic discovery scanner and replace it with a cargo rack. This will increase your carrying capacity from 4T to 6T. You could take out your shield generator for an extra 4T of space, but that isn't highly advised.

Next, once you have the money I would upgrade your Frame Shift Drive or FSD, from a 2E to a 2D, C, B, or even A. Don't get a size 1, size 2 only. The better the number and the better the letter, the more awesome the module is. A new FSD will allow you to jump much farther on the galaxy map!

Personally, I'd say the docking computer isn't worth it unless you have a ship with really low maneuverability.

I'd also suggest only bumping your life support up to grade D, since that grade weighs the least, and you most likely won't be running into situations where you need a lot of life support time. Especially since the Sidewinder is so cheap to replace.

Mass determines your jump range, you see.

Find a safe trade route and trade, trade, trade until you have around C 150,000. Buy an eagle or an Adder and upgrade it some. Power plant, shields, weapon mounts and a few utilities like ECM, some armour maybe.
