Your going to fast, slow down. But I can not.
I am travelling out of a jump and into cruise speed towards the station. The lady tells me to slow down. But, I can not do anything and overjump, and then have to line some circle up with an escape vector.

Keep your ETA timer at 0:07 seconds and you should be fine.

happens. usually its happen when something near/aside - confused auto-pilot, perhaps or some software/avionics glitch.
as for safer margin - i think 12-17 seconds is safer range ~ ;)

You can easily avoid that by setting your speed to the point where the speed indicator just turns blue. Keep it at that and your ship will speed up and slow down automatically if you keep it roughly pointing at your target.

When you reach a 9 second ETA, decrease throttle to 75% practice this and then you can aim for the sweet spot of 6 seconds.

Trick #1: If you are going in too hot you can do a 360 turn with your throttle on the blue _short_ of the destination.

Trick #2: Planets are a huge brake. Fly close (but not too close) to the planet and you'll lose speed fast. You can "hook around" and you can kill enough speed to rescue the approach.

Trick #3: Offset to one side and do a J turn into the target. If you're not too fast that may just do the trick.

The more inputs (axis) you put into the turn the faster you lose speed. Pitch, yaw, and turn and use your radar (and the force!) to guide you.

Do the planets make you overshoot?
i mean, if you get too close to them going to your destinations.
I think I understand what you mean by the planets.
But, I always keep it in the blue, but it just takes offf and acccelerates.

Tip: When it says [Slow Down] that doesnt mean the ship is telling you to slow down, it means gravity wells in the area are slowing your speed down and pulling on you

It is actually telling you to slow down. The reason the message flashes up when you go near another body if you pass too close to it is because the game behaves as though whatever you are ripping past is what you are trying to get to rather than something you are passing by and is saying "you are going too fast" to stop in time for me, even though you don't want to stop there at all.

If it was the case it was just a gravity warning you would get the message all the time you near a planet or star untill you left its gravity well and no matter what speed you were doing, but you don't.

So, let me get this right. I need to accelerate to 75% about 7-8 seconds away from the taget. And, set the 75% to a key to make it easier for myself?

No, decelerate from 100% to 75%. Other than that, bingo.

Throttle on the blue and you will be ok
Cockroach Nov 28, 2015 @ 11:54pm
I do leave it in the blue. the marker, but my power is always above the blue area. It accelerates past it.
I keep it in the blue, and then it goes.. you are going too fast. and takes off on its own
i try to decelerate when it says slow down, but it accelerates

What this guy says is corrent. But, I over shoot the destination because it automatically acelerates regardless if i set it to the blue area. Then have drop out and have to jump to it again

You see, I am travelling to stations orbiting planets, and I jump out near a planet and go near it... I think the gravity of the planet is messing with me

always keep the timer at around 0:07 and youll never go too fast again (assuming that no other stellar bodies are in your flight path). What i tend to do is throttle to 100% and once the timer reaches 0:07 i throttle down to slightly under halfway through the blue bars , once it slows down this will usually cause the timer to hang at 0:07 and a smooth pain free flight in.

if the timer goes above or below 0:07 then adjust your speed in very slight increments (again dont adjust if its a stellar body in your fligt path, go around it without adjusting and youll speed up once gravity stops pulling you) till it hits 0:07 again (once you get the hang of the sweer spot youll never really toggle throttle again).
