High res screenshots
Wanted to take a small hand full of high res screen shots while I am on my exploration adventure. Right now I am logged out at my first Earth like world discovery and I want to show it off to my buddy who has not played yet.

But I am having no luck with Alt+F10

I tried doing some forum digging on here and Reddit, but all the related post seemed out of date. Did they disable High-Res Shots because of the server lag issues they were causing? Or am I doing it wrong?

Any help, tips and tricks would be appreciated.

Alt+F10 only works in Solo mode (and possibly Private Groups), as it can be used to introduce artificial lag into your client which has been used in the past to mess up PvP combat.

Cheating players are why we can't have nice things...

I'm not so sure about getting high resolution screenshots, but I can guarantee that you can take a standard screenshot by pressing F12 in game. This is the Steam function and relates to the overlay; when you close the game it gives you the choice to upload them to your Steam account, or you can just dig into the game's directory and hunt them out for yourself.

So, perhaps if your native resolution is what you consider high resolution, then the F12 function will work for you, but I can't tell you specifically I'm afraid. I have noticed an occasional lag when trying to use the F12 shooter, but it does work mate. I love the beauty of the screenshots we can take in this game, so make them public if you would like to share :)

PS - Don't forget the debug camera if you are unaware of it; it takes you outside the ship for photos and so on, but leaves the ship vulnerable. I think the default is Ctrl+Alt+Space, but I am sure you know this already. Good luck man :)

Omg - that is really sad Muttley - why do people try such silly exploits and end up ruining things for the rest of us?!

maybe a dumb question of me, or maybe it's where I don't get the High res thing...
As you seam to play with Steam... why not the default F12 ingame screenshot for steam ? does it mess up with resolution ?

EDIT : Asshat was quicker.... *sigh*

The High-res screenshot thing re-renders the current scene at 4 times your current resolution. So for example, I play at 4K, so when I do it I get a 16K screenshot (15360x8640).

That would explain it, been roaming around in open play to see if I find another player in deep space, back to solo it is then.

Be warned though I read up that these High Res shots can take up to 100MB worth of HDD/SDD space
