Got killed by npc in 5 seconds..
Hi
what i really hate on this game, it does not have proper RPG content.
I will pay bilions dollars to have game like ED with RPG like Eve.

But anyway I was in sector where I usually play and I was traveling to another sector, then I get put out of FSD and get almost instantly killed by NPC. No chance for defense or for escape.

I dont think this is normal, it never happened to me. I dont know if its bug, or what.. but it really kills gameplay for me. I understand if I take hard mission.. but this? get killed when traveling between normal sectors? (Kreimann and LT 1837 or something like that)

I was able to buy another ship but....... it want me to stop playing this game again. Because I dont want spend week saving for ship and then get killed almost instantly.

Which lead me to this idea:

At least space sectors should have some difficulty ratings, so I will know where to stick, in which sectors stay when i am new to this game, in which sectors takes missions..etc and after some time roam to another sectors with bigger difficulty..

Currently its one big uknown. I dont know if sector where i am is good for me, I dont know if I take mission I will get insta killed in it.. etc. I dont know anything. And that is no fun. Sorry.

I have been out exploring since the last patch but from what I have heard, NPC's are tougher now than they used to be and they do much more interdictions. I guess you got a bit unlucky and got interdicted by a tough NPC. I remember I was trading in my T9 once (without shields) and and an Elite Python interdicted me. It took like 5 seconds and I was dead. That was like 10 million credits gone in 5 seconds :)

In general, there are no difficulty ratings for systems or something like that. It's not like in Eve or other games like Freelancer etc. where certain systems are easier for beginners and some are harder. Every system in Elite Dangerous has the same difficulty.

Also note that if you have pledged for a power and you are in another powers space, you are marked as "hostile" and are more likely to get interdicted, no matter if you have a good standing with the local faction itself or not.

Losing ships is common in ED and after a while, once you learn more about the game, you will know how to better evade enemies and how to equip your ships for better survivability etc.

That's pretty much all I can say for now, to not make it too long to read :)

I know.
Then tell me how to find in which sectors should I play?

And if all sectors have same difficulty - how is possible that newbies in start zones can do missions.. while when I get to some distant sectors I get there only hard missions?

What is current starter sectors.. anyone know?

like difficult games. But what is difficult on getting instakilled? Fight should be difficult, but with chance to win.

There should be some guidance. And I bet there is some internal system to distribute npcs by difficulty, so it should be possible to say "sector xxx is safe until you get big ass ship like yyy"..etc do you know what I mean?

I think even its procedurally generated its not that generic, it have some locations..

The procedural generation applies only to most star systems outside of "the bubble" (inhabited space). Anyway, there is no such as thing as "a system where you could start" since that could be every system. Every system has the same difficulty, there is no easy or hard system. It's the same everywhere. Also the amount of NPC's is the same everywhere. There is no system where you could say, that you are less likely to get interdicted there by NPC' pirates.

The minute you add difficulty ratings to different sectors, then the game suddenly limits the player's freedom in where they can be. It's like those players who insist on no level-scaling "at all" for large open world games designed for player freedom for games like Skyrim/Fallout etc.

Don't know what you're trying to say here.

-------

What exactly are you getting killed by? What ships and at what combat rating are they? (Mostly Harmless, Competent, Deadly, etc.)

Every sector has the possibility to offer missions of any difficulty, and I find it better this way. This gives players of varying degress of experience (or ships) a chance to do something worthwhile without having to travel 50 systems away to do something that is.

The thing is, you need to pay attention to the descriptions of the missions you're attempting to take. If you're expecting to be able to do a mission that invovles you killing a target with a payout of 100+k with a Sidewinder, you have another thing coming.

Cobra does not have very good Shields and needs to be fitted well to survive combat. Yeah ED does fall flat in economy unlike in Eve's robust economy with Player to player contracts and transactions.

Serath - I dont remember. I was flying in FSD and I get interdicted, it was hard to escape.. so I get out. Then I get killed like in 15 seconds.. very quickly. So I did not have time even to scan that enemy ship :) ..

I had Cobra mk3 with good fitting. (one my friend played it long time ago, stopped.. I have fitting as he told me to do.. he made milionz of credit from bounties in it).

Is there any log where I can see what npc killed me.. etc? like in Eve? some kilboard?

Also, I don't know if you play in open or not, but in open that can happen anytime to you that another player will interdict you and just kill you

Kind of. I wouldn't nessecarily call it a log per se, but you can get an idea. Typically right before an interdiction, you should be getting a message in your chat log from the NPC who's planning to do the dirty deed. (Look on the top left.) When that happens, look at his name; his name should then be logged into your "Contacts" tab, and it should be telling you what kind of ship it is. Scanning only determines the combat difficulty and their wanted status. (And I think their sub-targets, not sure.)

Thing is, I'm riding a Cobra too, but I'm not getting killed off as fast as you say you are. In my Sidewinder I was, but defeintly not the Cobra. I don't know my equipment ratings off the top of my head, but all together my re-buy cost is about 50k.

you can just press H while being interdicted and it targets their ship

You probably got jumped by a skilled npc pilot with an Anaconda, happened to me sorta. I jumped to an unknown signal, Anaconda and 3 smaller ships, died in 2 seconds flat once they saw me. Shields went down and I exploded before I knew what was happening.

That's why I wanna invest in heavy shielding but a combat and exploration capable vessel, the cobra looks good. At least better than the sidewinder.
HexCaliber Oct 16, 2015 @ 10:10pm
It sounds to me as though you were hit by an npc carrying plasma accelerator's, and possibly a rail or two, these things can do serious damage in a short amount of time, although 5 seconds is probably an exaggeration on your part. No vessel is immune and 1.4 improved ai difficulty at the top end, a change that was needed, now players in python and conda are reporting deaths to npc's in hazardous res and the like.

I am playing in Mobius group PvE. My rebuy was 28k +- with 95% insurance.
What weapons you use on Cobra? I have 2x lasers on gumballs and 2x autocannons..

Thanks for tips guys :)
But I still dont understand how all sectors have same difficulty, when there are start zones.. and if starter zones are full of people with sidewiders.. how they can fight against npcs with better equipment? Or What if I have cobra and more diffculty? Maybe its about missions and rewards? More reward = bigger difficulty?
I know that missions have different difficulties, based on reward and maybe that conflict zones are maybe rated by difficulty by their names? or its total random?

I think I will swap to sidewinder or eagle and start doing courier missions untill get some money.. im now on like 5000cr :)

Thanks

edit: HexCaliber - well it was 10-15 sec.. max. I was able to retract weapons and fire one batch. He shot one batch I got shields off and 60%hp.. then second batch and I was dead :)
Name was like.. Seddon or something like that :)

There is only 1 starting system and it's called LHS 3447. All players who start new start in this system. I don't know if that particular system maybe has a lesser chance of spawning higher skilled enemies, but all other systems are 100% the same when it comes to random npc's spawns in supercruise who may or may not interdict you.

Obviously you should stay away from strong signal sources and hazardous resource extraction sites etc. which may spawn high skilled and strong enemies. But in supercruise pretty much every system is the same and it's just bad luck if an npc python or anaconda with a master or elite skill interdicts you.

Did you just suggested to make this a themepark?!
That would literally kill the game! Why the heck would you want that?
