And that matters because ? How about we talk about the country you live in with it's corrupted politicians? Jesus christ, it's a space games, where are the space fans ? Grow the hell up please.
"Hey! It's CryEngine! It must be amazing! *fapfapfap*
You really got some issues.

Indeed, the star map does look very user friendly and easy to use.
Frontier have an Orrery view planned, but it's much more complex to implement as it will need to be able to handle anything the procedural generation throws at it. For example, I've seen systems with more than 10 stars in it...
BTW, i'm SC pledger. :-P
Okay ? Space fans != Star Citizen fans.
Were you even born when the first Elite was released ? I guess you don't know what it means for space fans to have ED, SC and NMS to be released...
They are not generated, they are hand crafted ;) When I was exploring in ED, most of the star systems does look the same and it took the thrill out of exploration as you had a glimpse of what was coming next. Hopefully that changes when they release planetary landings, (atmospheric planets)
Little correction there, it's 100 billion systems in ED, containing 400 billion stars :)
I do like the new map and wish ED's system map was a bit more interactive 3d wise. I have always thought the 2d ness was a missed opportunity for added sexyness.
But, Im both a fan of ED *and* SC.
The two dont have to be mutually exclusive!
SC will have a very different feel to ED and although there are obvious similarities Im sure there'll be pros and cons to each.
Personally, and although ED is fully playable now, I dont feel either game is mature enough to currently hold my interest. Horizons *may* change that.
I see both games as an investment of "playtime" in the future and wish them both the best of luck.

Generated in this context means taking that hand-crafted data about the systems and "generating" the star map from it.
That's because the procedural generation in Elite follows physical laws as much as possible, so similar stars which formed from similar proto-systems will generally lead to very similar systems. Although this means that when you do find an unusual system it's much more of an event.
"400 BILLION STAR SYSTEMS. INFINITE FREEDOM. BLAZE YOUR OWN TRAIL."
From the store page: https://www.elitedangerous.com/
There will be far more than 400 billion actual stars...
ED is mostly accurate for SPACEfans. Not MOBA fans or FPS fans or racing fans. Oh, wait, CQC released, MOBA fans in an ecstasy!
Horizons on horizon! Racing fans in an ecstasy! Well, all pleased as i see...
You right! Only KNOWN systems actualy handmade.
Damn, I want my money back! I got ripped by 300 billion systems! Kidding me right, only 100!?
I'm kidding :) But seriously, I thought there was 400 billions systems too. Any reference to what you are saying, i'd be curious, cause its common around the forum for people to say there is 400 billions systems, and I was sure to have seen it somewhere on the frontier website or steam store page I dunno.
