Sounds like it sucks....matchmaking ala World of Tanks.
No, it just doesn't know how good you are when you first start playing, so it matches you with players of average ability. Once it knows you suck it will start matching you with other people who suck as well. ;)
Haha.... =)
But if someone had just a bad day or the opposite...... ?
The matchmaking you describe sounds odd and I wonder how it works, cant imagine it judges a player just on the first days.
And if you have to go against higher ranked players you encounter aswell their advantages with better loadouts and ships.
Anyway, if lower lvl players regulary dont get mixed up with high ranked ones its alright...
So. You're quiting the game over a very small OPTIONAL mode of the game?
Bye then. You won't be missed.
No, I have near 400 hours in the game. So I am quitting because there is nothing else of interest, the OPTIONAL aspect was the last thing that slightly interested me, but it is poorly implimented console grade p2p arcade mode, can't even use our own ships, you have to have an unlock system and levels.
Thanks for personal attack though, really shows your personality. Water off a ducks back. It is people like you that made the whole game experience what it was. Elitist prick who only has 50 hours in the game so is still in the honeymoon period and will defend it like a rabit pitbull. Wait until you get 300 hours and still see if it is THE BEST GAME EVAHHHHHH!
Ahhh the old, mad because bad excuse. Expect nothing less off a Frontier Dev.
I have 540+ hours and still going? Your right its not the perfect game, nor is everyone going to love it like I do. Still there is no game out there of this quality inside this genre
Umm.. i don't think he is a dev. Or is this the usual ploy of accusing everyone who likes the game of being either a shill or a dev... because its impossible to like the game if you are not being paid to like the game?
If he was a dev, i think he would be a lot less confrontational. From what we have seen, FD keep a tight rein on their devs posting, on official forums or elsewhere.
Heat sinks are useful because the weapons are semi-gimballed. You need to be more accurate when your target has a low heat signature.
And to be honest, the ranking system isn't any indication of skill. Simply an indication of how long someone has played for. While higher ranks can give you an edge due to access to slightly better loadouts, or at least more versatility, it doesn't mean its going to give you that much of an edge.
In a 1v1 the bigger ships can be more of a pain to deal with if you are lower rank, but you can get access to those with just a couple of rank ups, which doesn't take long, even if you are coming last in every match.
Skill is by far the much bigger deciding factor that rank. I've spanked people of much higher rank, and i've been spanked by people of lower rank. During beta i was in a 1v1 (beta matchmaking screwing up) where i failed to get a single kill against a guy flying the same ship of the same rank as me. He was that much better than me, even flying an identical ship.
Thanks for heat sink tips. Btw, does dropping sink leave fake signature like it did in single player? I just wonder if you can trick your opponent and make him shoot space.
Rank 10 now and i find the condor is my favouriet ship still.

I don't think you can confuse people to shoot space, but it might give an opponent a small pause while they look for you witht the eyeball mk1.
