Why not super huge trader ship?
Like something with 1500 cargo capacity?

It's called a fleet carrier and it has 25000.

And yes, it can't dock at stations, just as any other super huge 1500t cargo capacity trader ship wouldn't.

Panther would be good idea - something smaller then fleet carrier, with like 5000 or even more cargo but only able to dock on planets... It would make trading profitable but still you would need to go and land on the planet ( a little bit more work) ...

Trading is quite profitable at 792t. At 5000t it might be way too profitable.

I think 1,500 tons or more would be overkill but it would be entertaining to watch someone try to land a fully laden one on a high-G world without cratering it.
If a ship released all of its 2000+ cargo in the vicinity of say...10 other CMDRs, might that not create latency issues with the server having to keep track of all those entities?

Wouldn't it need to continually broadcast the state of all those cargo pods to each and every commander in the area?

All those commanders would have them on their scanner, yes.

But if you dump more than about 15 in one go they tangle up and explode as they overlap too much.

Not with the server. It will create a latency in that particular instance, hosted by a PC of the first player entered that instance. His PC hosts all local exchange data between players in that instance, that only from time to time is being synced to the game servers. The game uses a hybrid p2p/server networking.

I'd be happy with a buff for the T9 and the Cutter cargo capacities. I'd say the T9 could be, 900. And the cutter, a 1000. Also I'd like a little more turning speed, not a lot, from the G5 dirty drive enhancement.
For the new ship, I'd like to see a dedicated large class explorer. The Vette is combat, the Cutter is cargo/multi purpose, and the Conda is multi purpose/explorer. A dedicated explorer that is BIG would be fantastic!

thanks for explanation!

Might be cool if we got a ship with 3 or 4 Size-8 optional slots, and probably very little else.

Oh, and a Size-8 Frame Shift Drive, just to have one. 16T of fuel per jump would be funny.

Only if it drops a several football fields sized concrete platform down a planet every time it wants to land there. ;) Otherwise your landing abilities will be severely limited.
the size of the ship is what has me worried as an " explorer " it looks pretty big. bigger than an Asp X and that ship struggled at times to find a landing spot. Currently in a cobra, lands just about anywhere. Be interesting how that large wingspan comes into play while the ship itself has a small landing footprint. id say they wouldnt matter at all unless you go to a dock, then you have to go below and wings seem to wide.
It would also break the current power play system. I wonder if the power play update addresses this.

You're making an argument by implication. You're asserting implicitly, that I wanted something silly for the game. A ship that's too big. Right?
Your argument fails, its a straw man logical fallacy. Because before I typed, "a dedicated explorer that is BIG", I expressed what I meant. And you mischaracterized it, which is the straw man fallacy.
When I typed, "I'd like to see a large class explorer" its a clear reference to the category of large ships in the game. That expresses what I meant, and you're done. Right? Because when I say I want a new large category ship, it implies that I want a ship that goes well with the other large class ships. Right? And you should have understood that.

AFTER THAT I expressed that it'd be great to have a BIG new explorer in that category. A restatement with different words is all.
