SCO is better.

Don't bother engineering a regular FSD, it's not worth it these days (they're obsolete).

You can just engineer the SCO drives, which will be better in almost every way than their obsolete counterpart... Almost... Runs a bit hotter, and eats fuel like crazy if you use the boost... Will jump further once it's got a G5 range enhancement and mass manager though.

A possible alternative if jump range is your only concern, and it's a size 5 FSD... you could get the pre-engineered FSD, and add the mass manager experimental... It will be nearly as good as the SCO for jumps (it's about 2.5LY difference on my DBX if memory serves, with the SCO giving it a max jump range of a little above 70LY without an FSD booster).

SCO capable FSD's are better in every way currently, compared to their standard FSD counterparts.
SCO FSD's can be engineered the same way as standard FSD's.
G5 Increased Ranged Mass Manager engineered SCO FSD's have slightly more jump range (about 1-2 extra LY) than a standard FSD engineered the same way.

Tentatively hoping that FDEV update standard FSD's in some way to have them still be a viable alternative.

There were galnet rumblings this week about that, or at least about the company that makes the non-SCO drives.

I think the problem is that most players have already switched over, engineered the new ones and dumped the old drives.

That's what I was thinking too at one point and here I am looking for materials to get my grade 5 engineering for it loll

I engineered my 5A SCO drive, got it from 35 ly to 55 for my DBX.

Only up to G3, or is it a heavy build?
