Keep in mind that the material source missions tend to ask for small quantities, so there's little need to stock all that much. A few Cutter loads at most, I'd say.
Fuel for your carrier, platinum has no such use.
Goods for mining missions, where you can get up 10x market value...
mine the platinum, sell it , buy tritium. if you take off the cost of tritium per ton of platinum youre still getting like 120-150k per ton.
Plenty of CMDRs doing cargo runs to/from carriers; all profit from it.

There are several good reasons to buy it from other players. On my carrier if Im not in a hurry 200k is good. I sell for 260-285k using Inara to find those good sell spots. No less than that. Be patient for a good demand location. I buy it for up to 250k from others' carriers on occasion too though because there is special use we have for it.
*Inara setting for selling*
max star distance - 1,000 LY Max price age - 2 days
Min landing pad - Large Price condition - better than average + 25 percent
Max Station distance - any Min supply/demand - 100 units
Use surface station - Yes Include fleet carriers - no
Right now I see bacon city, Carnoeck with a demand of 6,000 at 280,000. This will go down as you sell. Do not have more than 25 percent of the demand on your ship when you sell something or you get a price hit. If a station has a demand of 800 Grandiderite do not have more than 599 on your ship. This is more an issue with the core stuff. These prices can change at night with the tick of a system. The high ones often are high because of a boom or public holiday state.
