if you scan the planets and there is nothing there, at least youre gonna get some exploration credits out of it.
Random - in terms of whether a given system has planets suitable for exo or not.
The mass code can help find systems with more/larger planets.
The only thing is, if you want a bit of a helping hand you can install Elite Observatory Core and the Bioinsights plugin. As you FSS planets it analyses the soil and atmo composition and shows you which exobio are possible there. If you're only interested in high value, you can then narrow things down.
Personally I like to know what might be there, but if there are 2 or more I'll land and scan one or both even if they're only worth 1m (or 5m with the bonus)
If you have some time to kill, this video does a pretty good job of explaining exobiology, Youtuber seemed pretty good, but they only made a couple of videos, likely due to low viewer count.

I do.... but my patience has limits, after 21 minutes of it I wanted to throw a hammer in my screen lolll. I'm sorry, I just can't stand those videos where peoples think time has stopped and all you have to do is listen to their slow as F*** explanations .
