But in my experience the NPC ones tend to be stupid. Like when my Type 9 was attacked by a SINGLE Viper MK3. too bad for him my Type 9 has 3 medium turrets and a fighter.
the bait won't attract them from further distance. You will just get those that come close anyway now agro first. There is absolutely no reason to do that but if you want.
You'll be slowing yourself down for no good reason. A single unit of gold is plenty... They'll come after you for any cargo besides limpets... Even a single unit of biowaste is enough.
...but they can't.
As of the last time I tried it (few months ago), Mission Cargo cannot be stolen. Hatchbreakers will claim you're venting cargo, but nothing happens.
Without baiting, you can get by pretty easily and kill whatever pirates randomly show up. With it, they will be drawn to you like moths to the flame.
That's why you run one bait ship and three ships geared for efficient pirate popping. And then the four of you go get dinner.
But if you want active killing frenzy, just go to a CNB in any combat ship and scan and blast away.
Word of advice - don't do this at a Compromised Nav Beacon.
BTW you only need 1 ton of goods.
