I'm 57 and semi-retired, what else do you expect me to do with my spare time? Golf?
Anyway, it seemed an effective argument against 'ground combat still impossible'.
That's good, but this game is a little different. For a start, the enemies can have the same equipment you do, so they're not target dummies you can just mow down by the dozens.
Stealth works, but only LOS matters when the enemy icons are yellow (alert) or red (actively hunting you). If they spot you in those modes, they'll come after you.
Just hide on top of a roof until they calm down. If you mess up a mission, you can try retreating and calling a taxi, going to supercruise and then redirecting back again - but not if the system defence ships over the base are red, as they'll blow the taxi up when you're aboard.
It takes a ton of missions to figure it all out. Best thing I can recommend is patience.
As for combat, never shoot back at someone when NPCs other than your target can also see you and shoot back. 2 or 3 vs you is lethal.
Always take cover to reload or weapon switch.
Never go toe to toe with an enemy when your shields are down.
Never expose yourself to enemy fire of any kind when your shields are down.
Shoot at enemies when they're reloading or cooking a grenade.
Don't stay in one spot - they communicate and will flank you.
If they spot you on the roof, get moving. They will throw a load of grenades at you.
Some enemies are more dangerous than others. Enforcers have rockets. Sharpshooters can snipe you from miles away, and will one-shot you if your shields are down.
Thanks for that - I enjoy helping people who ask for assistance, but on the other hand I'll always rebut statements I believe to be factually incorrect.
E.g. if someone says they're getting slaughtered in ground combat and does anyone have any survival tips, I'll reply with whatever help I think they can use.
If they say ground combat is literally impossible, that's obviously not the case so I counter with facts.
Gen Xers are about as tough shelled as they come, haha... and trying to insult them is likely to leave you crying. Gen X were the kings and queens of the comeback, and believe me when I tell you that most of them are holding back these days to spare your feelings (or to avoid getting banned).
I'm also grateful for Sighman's help because even I occasionally learn something new from him, after almost a decade of playing the game. Plus it's nice to see someone who challenges misinformation, since there's so much of it on the net these days.
I've never been good at Medal of Duty: Modern Counter-Ghost or whatever, but:

The 100% rate for High Intensity is because I avoided them until I was really confident.
"Impossible" is different.
Stating his high stats because he's been playing for years isn't exactly helpful to the inexperienced, it's just a weird flex.
Stating "It's impossible!" isn't helpful either. Showing it to be possible on the other hand is.
