Concord cannon actually severely OP?
Just looking at the stats for the new Concord Cannon powerplay weapon in Edsy, and it looks incredibly overpowered? Like most powerplay weapons are sidegrades to the standard weapons, but according to the stats of this weapon... it looks like it deals higher damage per shot, with triple the rate of fire, and twice the projectile velocity when compared to a standard gimballed cannons?

Is this for real? How could a weapon this OP be released?

According to Edsy, a Concord Cannon with short range and auto loader deals 80.94 sustained DPS, with a medium hardpoint! What the heck?

Is this their way of forcing players to support the incredibly unlikeable Nakato Kaine?

All I've heard about it, is that it's absolutely trash.
I've seen one guy on Youtube saying it was trash

If I had a dollar for every youtuber claiming something is trash just to start a flame war in comments and generate better 'social engagement stats'...

I have unlocked and tested them yesterday.
They are good, but not OP. Certainly not what edsy says, but quite effective anyway. I would say against hulls like size 3 multicannons against smaller ships. Against larger ships they suffer without corrosive though. But where they really shine is striking the power plant. However this works much better in combat zones than against pirates. Because when bounty hunting you have the enemy fighting only you so it is difficult to hit them from top or bottom. From front or from behind they don't punch through to the PP. But in combat zones the targets are often fighting someone else exposing their tops/bottoms/sides more likely so you have more opportunities for deadly PP strikes. Also in combat zones chaffs are less common. In Hazres every second pirate is spamming chaffs. This also reduces their effectiveness.

One tactic against pirates is to let them come and scan you, and as they turn away in disgust you subtarget their power plant and unleash everything you have on them.

I suspect a pair of cytos to strip their shields and a bunch of these cannons might be pretty good as a combo.

Will give them a try when i unlock them, but basically looks like you trade some damage per shot and piercing for a bit more DPS overall and faster shots. So, a bit better against smaller, faster ships.

Since cannons are meant for destroying modules, and pretty pants against hull, seems like regular cannons are the better choice, and if you want faster shots on cannons, then you can engineer for long range. Alternately, engineer the concord cannon with sturdy.

sure, but it won't just delete them before they turn into face tanking like you can do with pacifiers for instance.

Still in combat zones you have more opportunities for striking PP's. In CZ they have mostly build up aggro already with other enemies so that they don't start trying to face you right away. You can just park below or above them and keep punching their PP while they are busy with someone else.

I tried a challenger with 3 effective cytos and 4 short range auto loader concords actually. This works ok, but I have found that concords are also very effective for stripping the shields as well. Firing just the concords shields melt down about as fast as firing the 3 cytos, if not even faster. Firing cytos and concords all together pretty much instantly strips shields from any NPC smaller than anaconda.

Due to their surprising effectiveness against shields, I want to try replacing cytos with something for debuffs on the challenger and use just the concords also against shields. Certainly corrosive is must have for those. Concords suffer hard from armor hardness against larger ships. Maybe I would pick some gimbaled MCs or frags for applying corrosive and other effects. also pick up another small normal connon for dispersal field as with the slow challenger I find myself in face tanking often.

Op ? I heard it's crap - gimballed stupid pointless unimaginative module, should be scrapped for something better imo

Wait it's gimballed?

That's boring. I mean cannons are one of the easiest fixed mounts to use lmao.

its not crap.
coriolis now seems to have correct numbers for it. edsy still wrong.
Looking at those it suggests that its overall sustained damage is slightly better than size 3 gimballed MC, which is also my impression from my own tests. But it has devastating effect on modules on top. Much better than even Size 4 MC's. A few hits and the PP is wasted. This definitely makes it superior to size 2 gimballed MCs and is a good replacement for those, especially in kinetic builds on large ships. MC corvettes, condas, cutters. Its probably also a good main gun choice for combat mandalay and the upcoming cobra V.

Yep, it's gimballed, and pretty bad all round. I was hoping for a special size 4 cannon shot speed matched with size 2 fixed so it could be like a new counter meta fdl build or something but no fdev went for like the worst imaginable module. That said the conrords are meant to be kind of fun even though they're crap

Ye, corvette is prob the only ship I'd fit concordes to cause the size 2 hardpoints have such crap convergence anyway and it's kind of cool having cannons on a big ship

I have an idea for my next engineering project.
A cutter with 6 concords. Muahaha this will probably be totaly OP
