You can use EDSY https://edsy.org/ and look for yourself.
Increasing reputation with engineer can be done in many ways. Look at "Engineer" section in the right panel (very first tab) about what they really need most. Usually they'll accept trading for commodities, cartography, bounty, etc.
When I first roll G5 it says "+45%" and some numeric value. When I roll it again it still says the same thing, but the circle progress bar goes forward. The question is there a bonus % at the end?
Boom, now you have max rep with them and a fixed number of payments to make to get something to max G5 on every module you upgrade via them. It's very easy now between the buff in material acquisition as well as new sources.
Strongly recommend joining Powerplay for the care packages.
If you reach 100% with your grade 5 your module stat will increase to their optimum value.
However like I said earlier going to 100% at g5 often doesn't make a big difference.
I also gave you a link to a ship builder for the game where you can add modules and engineering, you can also adjust the % on the engineering wheel to see the difference from grade 5 45% and grade 5 100%.
Take this for exemple, it's a stock alliance cheiftain with a large plasma accelerator grade 5 45% efficient. https://edsy.org/s/vyTNkW0
Select the plasma accelerator and on the right side of the screen adjust the wheel % and look at the sustained dps stat.
Before they turned materials into all-you-can-eat recently I only ever bothered with 1 click in grade 5 as the gains for more didn't add up.
There should be 2 numbers - the max you can get from that grade, and your current value.
^ This.
Also, one stat immediately goes to max upon getting the next grade while others increase per click to the max. The negative modifier is usually the one to instantly max out upon going to the next level, the buffs are the ones that increase.
