They seem to have made some changes to the various factions though, so I might have to check them all out again before I decide which one aligns best with my commander's fictional motivations.
However, part of the reason for that was that my first experience of Elite was Frontier: First Encounters, and though I never finished it, I'd understood that there was a possible ending where the Alliance made peace with the Thargoid. Among other things, this had influenced me in designing a campaign for a TTRPG. So I'd imagined supporting Nakato Kaine as a nod to that older game and what I thought of as the "good" ending, in that Kaine seemed to oppose provoking a war with the Thargoid.
Instead, we got the boring, predictable Independence Day plot.
So, I don't see a point to supporting Nakato Kaine now, or in participating in the game "politics" at all. Any positive outcome has been ruled out anyway.
PRAV is offering bonus payout for exo scans so it's worth it.
