I am curious as to who most people are siding with in PP 2.0 and if it is something to consider doing. I still cant figure out who i would even want to pledge to.

During Powerplay 1.0, I pledged myself to the Emperor without hesitation or regret. I renewed my fealty in 2.0.

Different powers have significant effects on the systems. Li Yong Rui has discounted ship purchases. Jerome Archer offers a multiplier on security levels as well as a discount on weapon modules. well but traveling more comfy due to more security forces does not necessarily impact BGS.
I have found the following statement in the fandom article on powerplay. What do you think about that?

It is not known at this time what impact---if any---a power's presence in a system will have on that system's BGS. Most likely, there will no longer be a direct BGS impact caused by a Power's presence in the system. Whether certain traits of a power's presence in a system as found in PowerPlay 1.0 will continue in PowerPlay 2.0 is not yet known. It is known that a system's controlling faction's government type no longer influences a power's hold on a system or their overall rating. For example, a dictatorship controlling a system held by Jerome Archer or Arissa Lavigny-Duval no longer makes a system easier to undermine. Conversely, a Patronage or Feudal government controlling a system held by one of these two powers no longer makes the system harder to undermine.

Li Yong Rui still offers the discounts and there are still weapon module discounts at certain places so at the very least, some of the effects are still there. It does appear that the black market and slave impacts previously with certain powers have been removed but that is something else entirely.

So I’m currently debating between Archon because pirate, yuri because he seems like the better Mahon and the underdog, and then archer because I like the bounty hunting missions and his bonus would be nice.

Or maybe Arissa for the search and rescue bonus. Maybe do some good in the galaxy lol
