Distress Signal (How to drop fuel?)
Not seeing help with this on the forums, but how do I help ships that don't have fuel?

Get a fuel transfer limpet controller and limpets for it at a station.
Limpets do take up cargo space however.
Be warned, they ungrateful sons of dogs. They just fly off without giving you any reward.

I do like distress calls though when they are ships under attack. Several waves of ships come in and you have to fight them off, and the final wave is usually bigger ships. Good fun.

Screw those who need rescuing.
Wow, so it's litterally pointless? Then what's the point of being able to share fuel!? Unless you're online with friends, and one invests in a fuelscoop

You might want to take a look at the fuel rats: http://fuelrats.com/

Last announcement on it was over 7000 rescues. That's 7000 times they have saved people from losing their ships.

Here they travelled 56,000 LY in just 2 days to rescue a player!!! https://www.reddit.com/r/FuelRats/comments/40gach/fuel_rats_travelled_56000_ly_in_two_days_to/

Fuel Scoops for the win, or look at your route after its plotted so you can plan on a place to refill your tanks, or add an extra tank, or set the course as 'econimic' and most of all pay attention. I know it happens and its happened to me so now I do one or more of the above when I plan on straying far and wide :P
Haha, ok. Fuel Rats, very cool.
But how do they know someone's calling for help.? Isn't the beacon just for inner solar system jumps?
They've an IRC client embedded on their website..
You just show up there and shout Rat Signal, how urgent you need help and your coordinates..
Okay, I dropped to the distress call and targeted them with my fuel limpets readied, pressed the button and get the message my fuel limpets have been deactivated.. They're still in my cargo hold.

Where did I go wrong?

without much information of your ship's build, or a sceenshot to know what you mean by your limpets being deactivated, if i had to hazard a guess i'd say your limpet controller was turned off automatically when you deployed hardpoints for lack of power. check your power usage and make sure your limpet controller is powered in the modules tab.

I was flying a Viper MK3 at the time & at a guess myself, I would like to think your right. it does seem like it's shut down every time I try to activate it.

I thought that rescuing a stranded NPC gave you a big rep boost for the faction that owns the NPC?

I wouldn't know, haven't done it myself, but I seem to recall seeing someone post this.

Or use the nebula cone for 200 Ly jumps.
