The last think I can think of is that there was an issue with some intel USB that you may need to disable in your BIOS.
I had the same problem and if I remember correctly it had something to do with drivers for X52.
When I installed the drivers from the bundled CD the button worked. But then Windows decided to update them and I couldn't get the button working anymore.
I had to uninstall everything related to X52 and try again. But it lasted just a few days and stopped working again. So I gave up and started flying without that button.
Thanks a bunch, dude =)
You can fix this by using the keymap utility (download it from MadCatz website), binding keystrokes to those keys in the app, and then selecing "joystick and keyboard" from the control options in E:D.
If you bound the standard keys to those buttons it should work. if you used custom keystrokes for features that aren't mapped normally you'll have to go in and set those keybinds in E:D
doesn't suck. I wanted the pro version.
which is the "mode switch"?
if you mean the thumb throttle button, go to Windows controllers option and deselect "clutch mode" of the joystick options (you can also set the time and adjust the LED colors there).
if you mean the pinky button on your right hand, that's a shift key. you won't see that. it's basically gives each key a second function.
If you don't use the SST for Elite Dangerous I suggest you also remove all the shift state columns save for the first one by clicking the "x" icon next to each mode name. Also remove the shift button for the remaining shift state by clicking the blue icon below the mode name. You might also want to clear the assignments for the scroll wheel and mouse fire the same way you did with the wheel button. Save the profile and switch to it by clicking the X52 icon in tray and selecting the name of the profile you've just created. To save yourself the trouble on subsequent launches you might want to set it as start up profile. This will open all buttons for proper usage in game without having to program them through SST
