Best HOTAS stick atm for Elite.
Was looking at the X55 Rhino but have heard that quality is poor since Mad Catz took over ? Is this right ?

I use one and I love it. Used the X52 for more than 10 years before that.

Umm ok, where is the cheapest online price for the X55 please ?

I've recently got the X52 and found it on Amazon for under £100 - the pro version on Seiteks website comes bundled with ED if you need it or for a friend. I read a lot of reviews and had a blast on a few friends (X52 pro - Warthog & peddles) if you have the capital I would go for the warthog and peddles for build quality and emersion but I have no complaints from the standard X52 - it beats my previous stick... Sidewinder Pro :steamhappy:

ive got an x55 and love it, its true people seem to have a lot more problems with QC since mad catz took over, but if you get a good one its great. and it looks awesome too.

obviously if you can afford it the CH warthog is the best there is, but for the mid range, the x52 pro and x55 are really the only options for a full HOTAS.

hopefully with space sims becoming more popular lately we see more brands put out some competition.

on the cheaper end this gets great reviews everywhere you look Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X,about £35 on amazon in uk and seems like a good buy with a view to upgrading in future.

I bought the x52 Pro for 160$, it also required some work to get a good one (two returns to Amazon and one return to Fry's) and I love it. I purchased the X-55 Rhino before it but found it to be terrible for the price back then (400$). The joystick of the X-55 was much to cumbersome and ergonomically uncomftorable for myself (average build) and my friend who is 6' 5'' with pretty big hands. A lot of reviews stated you wanted big hands for it. The throttle also had a lot of resistance even at the lowest setting on the X-55. The x-52 pro throttle is amazing.

I was a bit wary 'upgrading' from my X52 to a X55, but I don't regret making the switch. From what I've come to understand the first few X55 runs had some brutal quality control issues that appear to have since been resolved for the most part.

The 52 seems better suited to the quick throttle and direction changes required of this model of space flight, while the 55 excels at in-atmosphere and multi-engine stuff along with having the benefit of quite a few more switches.

If you don't play flight sims (or have small hands), I'd honestly recommend the 52 over the 55 even though I love my 55.

Amazon also has the Tflight Thrustmaster HOTAS on sale for 38.50$ US, which I've only read good things about, especially for its price range. Just ordered one for my younger brother.

I bought the x52 pro its a decent HOTAS, spring feels a little lose though. Main problem is the awefull software you need to run it, also I would avoid it like the plague if you have windows 10.

Edit
Once you get it hooked up there is already a profile in the game for Elite Dangerous so setup and configuration is nice and easy.

I use a Logitech 3d pro with a CH pro throttle.
Great setup.

I purchased a X55 for ED over a week ago. Found you do need to look into a powered USB hub unless you like random buttons being pressed whilst flying (silent running anyone, during combat)

I`m using X-55 Rhino and had no problems so far, works great from the start.

Same here X-55 is really good... Although I'm having problems with the SRV turret control.
Hello there

Be aware if you do splash out on an uber high end metal stick, they get damn cold to the touch in winter.

Ive had to use gloves more than once on mine.

The feel of metal sticks is *fun* but tbh once one is playing one doesnt notice if their HOTAS is plastic or not rather how well it works.

I miss aspects of my <50 UK P TM HOTAS X which are missing form my >too expensive HOTAS COUGAR.

My nest stick ideally would be a midrange stick rather than a highend one.

Not that I have the cash any more :(
